The SEC next year

The only reason JP Prince even made an impact is because some of the other circumstances around this team.

Hat may have been wrong about Prince being a wasted scholarship, but if we had the team this past year that we expected at the time he said that, Prince likely would have been very irrelevant.

I may be watching a different game but I thought he was huge down the stretch. Not to mention his solid defensive play.

And only Tyler was kicked off so forgive me if I missing something else but even with Tyler, Prince would have still started more than likely.

Prince was the most valuable player on the team toward the end of the season and in the post season. Who did we not have except Smith who was not having a great season? You could make the argument that we were a better team without Smith.

You're all misunderstanding. When the Prince issue was being debated and Hat said Prince would be a waste of a scholarship, we would have expected our team for this season to Tyler Smith, Ramar Smith, and Duke Crews, and they were all supposed to be pretty damn good at this point. Add that to Wayne Chism, Brian Williams, and a Scotty Hopson who isn't a bust, and UT may have a national title.

The reason Prince was able to make an impact is because everything went to hell from there. I agree Prince was a big part of our most successful run, ever. I don't see how I could deny that. I do think that it isn't nearly what I would have expected a few years ago.

We would have been a stronger team with the folks you make reference to. However, Prince would still have had a major role in our team. Ramar would have helped at point and Crews would have helped at post. Prince would still have had significant minutes and would have started at the 3.

I think it would be more like

Smith
Smith
Hopson
Chism
Williams

or something like that, assuming everyone was here and playing to their potential. Prince would have seen time, but he wouldn't have been anywhere near as important.

At this point, barring a major injury or Terrance Jones spurning the Huskies, the 2010-2011 rosters are pretty much set. The rosters you see now is what you'll see in November.

I am very pleased with our transfer John Fields enrolls at UT; Pearl impressed with transfer GoVolsXtra
I think he will have a good impact and with he and Jerrone, we will have a deep frontcourt as long as Tobias, B Williams and Kenny stay healthy.

Those 5 very large men will be imposing.

The height of Williams, Tobias, Woolridge, Hopson and Mcrae running point would be the tallest group of players I can remember TN having out there in my lifetime.

I don't think we've seen the last of Swiperboy. He still has potential, if he would just use his size.

We shall see I guess. It just seems to me bringing in John Fields shows that Pearl has no faith in the Swiper. Maybe he wanted another C. I don't know. All I know is, I like the move.

You didn't think we got Fields for center?

Yea, I just can't wait to see Mcrae running at point. Most folks didn't know that we recruited him as a point guard. Height is what it's all about.

I really don't think he'll play point, though. Goins is probably going to play long games, maybe around 29 mins. It doesn't make sense for McRae to come off the bench for PG, when he could be backing up Scotty, especially when we have Trae Golden, who is a PG. Jordan's game is slash and attack. He's very athletic and is going to be flying through the air on every possession. It just makes way more sense if he backs Scotty, IMO. I never heard anything about him playing point myself.

To beat a dead horse, we all know Daddy Swiper sucked at ND until his junior year. Genetics are crazy...:dunno:

I'm pretty sure he will be backing up at wing, rather than point. MHF is the only person who has the knowledge of him actually being a point, much like many other things that he is the only one with that specific knowledge.

I was illustrating the tallest group possible which did not include goins. Mcrae will play 2 primarily but like mcbee he can play point.

Mcbee playing point would be a good way to wave a white flag to each of our opponents.

I don't want him playing point either, but he has solid handles. In fact, I wish he weren't so much of a spot-up shooter. It seems he does better when he takes a few dribbles.
