So can we stop debating this? The SEC is clearly the best conference in the land and as much as I dislike Cam Newton and Auburn it's still the SEC. I don't think anyone can really argue this point anymore, I mean 7 National titles(98, 03, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10) in the BCS era with 5 different teams (UT, Bama, UF, LSU and now Auburn), is pretty much the very definition of dominance. There isn't a conference left the SEC hasn't faced in the title game and beaten. With all of that said, I am just going to go ahead and declare the debate officially over.

With that comes the debate on how much we are paying players and what we give top rated recruits to come to our conference.

Ill give you the stat of the night right here. With the exception of 2004 and 2005, since 1983, a team from the SOUTH EAST (geographical) has had a chance to walk away from the bowl season with at least a share of the National Title. THAT is domination.

South Eastern Cheaters

I really hate this cheer for the conference stupidity. That's what Yankee big 10 morons do.

They're jealous of our speed. I think they chant that because of what happened to them by us on New Years Day (0-3).

While we're on the conference topic, I'd like to mention that some of these auto-bid things need to go away.

I don't get why the Orange Bowl doesn't want to cut their ACC tie, since the ACC champ never brings a crowd. The Big East isn't much better. Both have a nice losing history in BCS games. Just toss them already.

Funny you say that, because I have literally never met a single Big Ten fan that roots for the conference in bowl play.

I say get rid of all auto bids. If the BCS games are for the elite, then take the top ten BCS teams after conference championships and put them and only them in the BCS games. There is no excuse for a team ranked in the teens or not ranked at all to be playing in what are the "elite" games of the bowl season.

SEC! This helps any of the big six SEC schools get better recruits. Makes the conference harder, but you can see the results of coaches that take advange of being in the SEC.

Conference Pride: So even Vandy fans can feel like they won something.

Friend of mine is a Georgia Tech fan and he was rooting for Oregon tonight because he says he can't stand to listen to all the UGA fans he knows bragging about how great the SEC is. There aren't many things more pathetic than the idea of fans of a chronically underachieving team pounding their own chests because of championships somebody else's team won.

Agreed. The only thing this game, along with Saban and Meyer being on set did for me was remind me that we're still one of the low men on the totem pole of the SEC.

But would they be an underachieving team in, let's say the Big East or the Big 10 conference?

The SEC is the best conference out there, making it hard to win games on a consistent basis, look at Bama just about everyone thought they would repeat. Didn't happen. It's hard to be the "T"op dog in the SEC

Conference wars/conference pride/whatever is the stupidest thing I've seen in my lifetime.

Nobody is debating it except people who keep screaming, "Why are we debating this?"

They are, although the difference at the top probably isn't nearly as great as you think.

Still, I have no doubt that the better team won last night. If the NCAA will now hurry up and vacate this thing, all will be right with the world.
