The SEC vs. Everyone else

While we're on the conference topic, I'd like to mention that some of these auto-bid things need to go away.

I don't get why the Orange Bowl doesn't want to cut their ACC tie, since the ACC champ never brings a crowd. The Big East isn't much better. Both have a nice losing history in BCS games. Just toss them already.

When those tie ins started it looked like they could get either a top Miami (From the Big East) or top FSU (from the ACC), which would have drew very well (see their Orange Bowl match up in '04). The problem is FSU and Miami both went down the drain quickly.

Did you turn off the 2003 Fiesta Bowl before they threw the pass interference flag? Wouldn't blame you, since it took about 15 seconds.

Nope, I was watching and celebrating only to have Terry Porter decide the outcome of the game. It should have never came to the point though.

where is that duck now !? the poster with all those inane statistics about how the pac 10 was just as strong... what is not apparent is the (good) not great teams.. the depth of this conference... and how hard it is for a great team to make it through their schedule without having one bad week or break go against them... wish cal would have beaten them so aub could have thrashed tcu.. but pac 10 is not that deep like the sec... there is usually two great teams in sec each year and four good ones.. great teams either meet in championship game or poach each other in the same division... championship loss by the great team against a good team enables the one loss or 2(LSU) to back into a championship game and thrash some poser who is not used to the grind.. the crucible which is the SEC

I kind of expected the flag. Don't get me wrong, it was an awful call, but that was just OSU's year. That season against Michigan, the Wolverines had like 3 touchdowns called back for offensive pass interference. It was unreal.

Still, I have no doubt that the better team won last night. If the NCAA will now hurry up and vacate this thing, all will be right with the world.

And how my friend, shameless favoritism by the NCAA has me pretty jaded on college athletics.

The SEC's best team and the Pac 10's best team were pretty even this year. Each team wins that game 5 out of 10 times. Oregon lost in the only time that it was played, though. It is what it is.

I would like to have seen this game played a week or two after the regular season's end.

Has the Big Least ever played in a NC game?

Miami was still in the Big East during it's two title game run (01,02)

Virginia Tech was too when it played OU in 1999/2000

Is that what you were going for, or asking about have any of the current members ever won a national title?

Who's blocking Nick Fairley and the wrecking crew?

Dunno. It was an evenly matched game.

No it wasn't. You don't win games when you lose the battle on the line of scrimmage. That's one of footballs few truths, something I told you weeks ago.

It was a three point game. It was tied with two minutes to go. 50 yard difference in total yardage. It was evenly matched.

By your logic, Kentucky would beat Auburn 5 out of 10 attempts because they played them tough.

That game was close for a couple of reasons.

1. Cam Newton was ****ty. Under threw one wide open TD pass in the flat. Over threw Darvin Adams for a TD. Fumbled in the 4th. The above three things(the latter is debatable) had nothing to do with what Oregon was doing, but rather Cam's uncharacteristically poor level of play.

2. With around 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, on a crucial 4th down, the ref sets a pick for DJ Davis. Freeing him up for the catch and big gain. This, ultimately put the Ducks in a position to score.

Edit: Pretty funny stuff right here.

Okay, that's your opinion.

We all make incorrect predictions, like yours that Florida was going to be a great team in 2010.

One's a preseason prediction, which are crap shoots. The other is a fundamental law of football that has existed since the inception of the game.

I've never argued that winning the battle in the trenches isn't important.

Which is an opinion, that Cam Newton played one of his worst games of the season, or that the ref set a pick for DJ Davis?

I was referring to your opinion that it wasn't an evenly matched game.
