1. Belmont is Butler South. Tennessee will not play a team all year that has a better understanding of how their coach wants things done.
2. When Sherron Collins sees the tape of Alex Renfroe using Bobby Maze as a turnstile, he's going to need a bib to keep the drool off his shirt.
3. Josh Tabb made the three biggest plays in the game. Tennessee doesn't win without him.
4. Bruce should be very thankful that Dotson didn't go to Vanderbilt. He would fit their system perfectly.
5. Kudos to the crowd for a nice applause when Coach Byrd's dad, legendary Knoxville Journal columnist Ben Byrd, was shown on the video board.
6. Georgia is the worst 7-3 team in the history of college basketball. If they win 5 SEC games, the league should be stripped of its automatic NCAA bid.
7. The "Arizona is going to be OK" talk can stop now. UNLV smacked them back to reality.
8. Huge win for Minnesota. Now, they have a nonconference win that will resonate with the Selection Committee.
9. Tom Izzo never stays down for long. The Spartans going into Austin and winning today bodes poorly for the rest of the Big Ten.
10. VCU-Oklahoma tonight should be worth watching. Jeff Capel going up against the guys he recruited.

I came away pretty impressed with Tabb's game today as well. He seems to be improving on a consistent basis rather than playing well then being invisible and so on.

I only caught a glimpse of the Michigan State/Texas game, but I could have sworn it was on the Houston Rockets court.

Hat, do you see this year being at all like the team from 2 years ago, that struggled early but got things together later in the year?

Great sturr, Hat. Collins hung 19 against Temple. We might need Tabb on the point for KS. I'll have to tune in to the OK game tonight.

I can't believe you took the time to post this while UConn and Zaga are in a thriller :)

Not really. I think what you see right now is pretty much what you're going to get with this team.

I honestly thoguht UT was going to be close to as good as they were last year... I thought young play would help to overcome the losses of Jujuan and Lofton.

This team doesn't do the little things that the past 2 teams did. This team can't shoot with that team, and until they figure that out and attack the basket they will struggle. Lofton or Smith would make this team a lot better.

Memphis and UT were, as everyone remembers, 1 and 2 when they played last year. If things continue as they are, they'll both be unranked when they play in January.

1. agreed. very, very impressed with Belmont and their coach.
2. how much of Renfroe's penetration had to do with the fact that he was left-handed, and how much had to do with the fact that he just owned Maze? B/c Maze seems to be a very capable on-ball defender.
3. also agreed. I'm very impressed with Tabb's play and attitude thus far. The one area he could improve on is in the fast-break. He often seems out of control in those situations.

I'm pretty sure Tennessee has video machines. He knew Renfroe was lefthanded, he just couldn't stay in front of him.

That's what happens when you can't maintain position between a dribbler and the basket.

True. Seems like instead of just contesting the shot we are to aggressive trying to block the shot. The only way Belmont stayed in the game was FT's.

We have some serious footwork issues across the board on d.

This team has to figure out the defensive end of the floor. We ain't good enough to score in the half court right now.
We need easy buckets and we ain't getting them.
