The Section 103 Postgame Report - Belmont

Hopson airballed a free throw. That pretty much just bumped the whole team from Elite Eight Consideration right there.

One thing that made me happier today was that two out of our three dumbest potential plays weren't seen in this game. We didn't have any really dumb fastbreak charging fouls where our players apparently think they can dunk through someone, and we didn't throw away 4 or 5 alley-oop attempts. The third dumbest potential play, Wayne Chism shooting a 3 pointer, was unfortunately present and accounted for.

The two biggest early disappointments, Tabb and Chism, have seemed to have turned it up since last Saturday.

I was very underwhelmed by this team today. Soft, sloppy, tired play. there's just no 40 minute focus by anyone. defense is just awful around the perimeter.

Tabb has certainly made himself a key cog on this team.

As far as the rest, I think BP hit the nail on the head when he talked about BMaze...he said he doesn't think that he's ever had to play defense the way BP and staff have asked him to....

That rings true to Hopson, Tatum, and Woolridge. These guys have some ways to go...especially squaring up their man, and switching off ball screens.

It amazed me that, at no point, did anyone overplay Renfroe's left hand and make him go right. Not sure he dribbled the ball with his off hand once today.

Didn't see the game, but we have been missing that type of fundamental for a while now.

Tatum and Hopson have drove the ball a little more. Woolridge still needs to, how many 2's has he shot?

We need to attack zone defenses better.

In any other major conference we'd be lucky to finish above the middle of the pack.

We'd do fine in all but a couple of the conferences.

I think Tennessee would finish no worse than 4th in any league outside of the Big East.

Hat... You think Childress will get some PT when he returns around January?

Before the year I said no way with the athleticism we have, but his physical presence down low could be a help to this team IMO.

Almost is right. The SEC is the weakest major conference I can recall. The PAC 10 doesn't live down to that standard.
Other than UCLA being better than anyone in the SEC, there's not much difference. Just got off the phone with my friend at SC. They had to score the final 5 points of the game to survive by 4 against North Dakota State. I could see a scenario under which the PAC 10 only gets 3 bids.
