No argument here. I'm just glad he produced and we won.

Arencibia was honored at the game tonight. I gotta admit, it was kinda exciting.

That's the thing. He didn't produce. 5-14 is not producing. That's pathetic against a team like UTC.

If anything that looks worse. The color guard is coming out with the flags, people begin to rise, Tennessee lines up facing the flag, and the opposing team leaves to go to the locker room? They can't stay out for an extra 2-3 minutes. It's just tacky.

In all of the games I've been to, the opposing team has been off the floor before the color guard comes out. I agree that it's tacky that they can't stay out a few extra minutes. But, I don't want to give the impression that teams are actually leaving while the color guard is present.

Scotty Hopson is not on the radar of any NBA scouts. He better catch on soon or he will be living across seas.

This should be Pearl's best defensive team by a considerable margin. He's never had two point guards who could really attack. He does now.

Wow. That's great, especially considering UT had a pretty solid defense last year.

They better be good at defense. The halfcourt offense isn't going to strike fear into anyone.

tennessee has never had a scary half-court offense under bruce pearl.

its always been frustrating to watch. i was hoping for a reliable 3point threat to help. not sure if someone will step up.

At least in Bruce's early years we could pass around an usually get bailed out by Smith or Lofton creating a shot. Once they left, our shooting went goodbye and people started to realize we have no halfcourt offense to speak of.

This actually doesn't make any basketball sense. There isn't any magical half-court offense that can generate points on nothing but sheer brilliance.

You can run set plays to try to get your guys easy shots...but the problem with that is that teams can watch film and figure out a clever way to defend your special set plays. Thus, most coaches save their brilliant set plays for things like the NCAAT.

Through the grind of a season, having a "scary half court offense" boils down to having players who are hard as hell to guard.

Lofton, for instance, single-handedly made our half-court offense scary. Kentucky last year had a scary half-court offense because Wall was hard to contain, Cousins was nearly impossible to stop one-on-one in the post, and to make matters worse, Cousins rebounded about 20% of the bricks that were shot when he was in.

You want a scary half-court offense, you need players who are difficult matchups and can create their own points.

We didn't really have that last year. This year remains to be seen.

The entire Pearl era has been to play catch at halfcourt until the final 10 seconds of the shot clock. Tennessee was fortunate enough to overcome it when it had some shooters who could create shots.
