1. MTSU left the floor as the color guard was coming on for the Anthem. Again, that's simply low rent.
2. Nice job avoiding a letdown by Tennessee. Minnesota and UCONN both flattened out in their first games after winning titles.
3. I can see why Syracuse so coveted Tobias Harris. He's straight out of the Billy Owens/John Wallace/Wes Johnson mold that has served them so well.
4. Good to see hitting some threes didn't make Scotty Hopson go jumper crazy. His best offensive weapon is, and will always be, his first step to the basket.
5. It'll be interesting to see how UT handles the upcoming layoff. Pearl has a challenge keeping UT game sharp with finals and over a week off with Pitt next on the agenda.
6. Nice to see Kenny Hall get involved. He's going to have to provide quality minutes for UT to be elite.
7. Kermit Davis has had some decent years at MTSU, but his time is up. That's a program in desperate need of new blood.
8. Terrible loss by Ole Miss tonight. No team with NCAA Tournament aspirations should find themselves down 28 to Miami.
9. On the other hand, Northwestern looks poised to finally make the field. This is the best team they've ever had.
10. Not a great crowd coming off an NIT title. However, the fact they were loading animals two by two on an arc outside had something to do with that.

I really wish Scotty had handles. Good write-up BTW

Also surprised Kenny doesn't get more minutes.

I think that'll change as he gets healthy. My gut is that he'll be playing more than Fields by the time SEC play starts.

Really? I thought Fields has done well. He does what he was brought in to do.

I was glad to see that our D was still really good tonight. Just wish Tatum had a little more life to him tonight, he seemed to be really slow and not hustle to much.

11 day layoff before heading to Pittsburgh, didn't know it was so lengthy. Number 5 is a big one then. Also looking forward to seeing Hall get some more time. I'm wondering if we'll be seeing Maymon at Pitt or not, from everything I've read he'll be eligible for the game. A healthy Josh Bone would be nice as well.

Good to see Hall get substantial minutes. Woolridge, on the other hand, makes me shudder every time his feet take the floor. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if he rode the pine the rest of the season. Very careless.

As much as dislike this "dribble", pun intended. Tobias is will not be with us long. He is got all the stuff for the big paycheck. I hope we go far while it lasts. Nice drubbing tonight though.

You always want to see a player be into a game every game, but if you are gonna check out one time this year, tonight was a good night.

That's true, I would much rather see him struggle tonight like he did, rather than wait and do it against Pitt.

With the foul trouble that Williams, Fields and Hall all seem to have I would have to believe that they will all get regular minutes down the stretch.

Solid defensive effort, especially for the long stretch of the first half. It's good to see our players giving that kind of intensity in a gimme game. Play like that will be needed during SEC and tourney play.

I’ve never understood the rationale behind playing our national anthem at entertainment events. It’s always smacked of irreverence to me, as if the event promoters have no respect for the significance of the tune.

Miami is going to better than people think this year. They're going to upset a few teams along the way.

They got blown out by Rutgers. They might catch a team here or there paying more attention to the beach than the game when they are at home. That won't change the fact they're bad.

I actually agree. However, I don't think that gives you license to treat it as irrelevant. If it's going to be played, you stay out there and stand at attention.

Hat - I still think Kenny looks like he's only about 60-70 percent and it may take him until February-March to fully recover from the injury.

I'm a Hall fan, but I can't see him taking a lot of Fields' minutes. Hall will obviously improve as he gets healthy, but Fields will calm down a lot and turn into an all around defensive player. Right now he's biting on everything, but I figure that will change. I'm not really concerned with him being that big of an offensive hazard.

They play it before the freaking circus, too. A girl wearing rhinestones waves a flag around over her head while riding an elephant, children are screaming the whole time so you can barely hear the anthem, and then clowns come out and fall down for two hours. Hard to see how that honors the country.
