You think that they could get there this year? I'd think that the players UT loses would cause a drop off in defense, and Pearl possibly being gone makes the future unclear.
I think the offensive limitations are simply something this team is going to have to live with. The good thing for Tennessee right now is that outside of Duke, I'm not sure how many other eite teams there are out there.

What do you think of Ohio State's status/ranking thus far?

Other than Oliver Miller, who are all these fat guys with great hands? Barkley's were average at best. Hot Plate Williams had great hands before he became a blob. Billy Owens and Derrick Coleman neither saw their ability to catch the ball improve as their waist lines expanded. Don't remember guys like Gary Payton and Jason Kidd having much blubber.

Moses Malone
Glen Davis
Zach Randolph
Draymond Green
Jayvaughn Pinkston

Other non-skinny guys:
Kevin Love
Sabonis
DeMarcus Cousins

though short, Sherman Douglas, Baron Davis and Chris Paul all have a little extra meat on the bones.

They're really good. I'm still not completely sold on their point guard play.

I saw a bit of their game at FSU last night, and Craft struck me as a gritty player who plays hard D and won't make a lot of mistakes, but I don't see him creating a lot of offense, and his shot looked average.

It is funny that Craft is a guy who Bruce identified as being a stud and was on earlier than most.

Craft snitched on us for Matta, but that kid is a very solid point guard.

I would love to meet Ohio State in a Final. Would be absolutely better than beating Duke to win it all. Best dream matchup I can imagine.

Major Wingate had the munchies and still had hands of stone!

I think beating Kentucky would be the most satisfying.

Splitting the season series, losing the SEC Championship game to them, then winning it all would make it the sweetest. Showing we are both legit teams, but we won when it absolutely mattered the most.

Granted, I'd love to beat them 4 times, but I just don't see that happening.

I would say Sullinger and Jones from UK are the most impressive Freshman I've seen thus far this season. Tobias isn't far behind.

In your estimation, how far off are the Vols from being a truly elite team? TIA.

I would appreciate anyones response to this question. :hi:

Not far.

-Tobias Harris is a defensive liability at the moment. He needs to get more intense about rebounding and defense. During Nova's comeback in the early 2nd half, they went after Harris and got back in the game.

-We're not good enough from long range to scare teams out of zoning us or playing a saggy man-to-man.

-We've yet to see much size on the opposite end of the floor. How will we handle a big, physical team?

That's the three biggest weaknesses as I see them. The second is still up in the air I guess. Cam's pretty consistent, Tobias has been good but sparse, Scotty is all over the map from deep. The third I'm not truly worried about, I think we can handle big teams. The first is a concern, but we're awful good at all four other defensive positions, and we have plenty of depth/size/fouls to give, etc. Maymon could help us at the defensive 4 if he can guard; rumor is he can.

Gary McGee will provide that test for sure...

Hat, when can we expect the next edition of the trap? I am anxiously awaiting...

Thanks,

I would not say he is a defensive liability, considering who we have to play that position. However, I do agree that defense appears to be his weak area at this time. I do expect him to improve as he adjusts to the college game.

he's more impressive than both. Sullinger appears solid because there are no quality posts in the college game. Jones is stout, but so is Tobias.

Without question. I even went so far as to give him the "effing ridiculous" label, which is the highest honor that kidbourbon gives out. You may have heard of it. It's a pretty big deal. Huge in Brussels.

Putting a veteran team like Puke on his back and single handedly beating a top ten team in his what, 6th game in his college career? I consider him in the "effing ridiculous" catagory as well. T Jones is borderline IMO as well. When T Jones decides he is going to give max effort all the time and not just when he feels like it. He is as dominant a F as one could ask for when he wants to be.

Thanks for your response, I was hoping you would post on my comment. so basically (if im taking this correctly) you think the Vols are ranked about where they should be?

When do you plan to see Kyrie Irving?

Absolutely awesome game against MSU. He just slipped my mind when I wrote that. He's very, very good. I still think that Sullinger has the game that projects to the next level the best. But, I still think Irving's a Hell of a good player.

They're ranked about right. I think that they're actually more like a top 10 team, but they've not proven it yet; for now, 13th or whatever they are seems fair.

They have the POTENTIAL, if Scotty continues to play as he has, and the defense intenstity to continue, to go to Houston.

Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, would be sweeter than to be Kentucky in the EE to go to our first FF. It would just be awesome.
