1. Great night at the old barn. Wish more people had shown up for it.
2. The final score didn't do the beating justice. That was a 35 point game.
3. Here's hoping it's a trend and not an aberration. We'll find out in the next 3 games.
4. Hopson and Harris both played like the best players on the floor should. They ate their guys alive.
5. Wesley Witherspoon is the most overrated player in America. All he's concerned with is trying to get his numbers.
6. Memphis is a selfish mess of a team. The improved C-USA is going to kick their asses.
7. I have to admit, I was wrong about Maymon's atitude. The guy doesn't have great skill, but he plays incredibly hard.
8. The dance team doing performance art to the music of Melissa Etheridge. That's halftime magic.
9. I can't wait to see how long it takes the Memphis fans to turn on Josh Pastner. By mid February, they'll be caling for blood.
10. Good sendoff present for Pearl. Here's hoping the same effort is put forth for Tony Jones' debut.

So Hat, who wants Tennessee in the bottom of their bracket draw come March? I can't imagine anybody is excited about our Jekyll/Hyde freak show.

The thing that stood out to me was a defensive stat. Felt like ever time we were getting down court we was taking a charge.

I will say this, Maymon rebounds very well. His shot selection is sometimes pretty poor though. And his free throws are atrocious

I agree, his shot selection is generally very bad. Somehow they go in half the time though.

Will the real Tennessee basketball team please stand up? Is it the team we saw tonight or the team that loses to CoC? Lol, crazy sports teams.

Fianlly, a decent game! Actually more than that, the Vols did an AWESOME job but were inconsistent at times. Varied from 10 to over 30 at various times. Could have beaten Memphis by 40 if they had wanted to.

I didn't necessarily mean from this game. He worked hard this game. I am very impressed at almost 5rpg for a guy who gets as many minutes as he does. He has pulled the trigger on some shots 15+ feet out in previous games that weren't even close. Around the rim, he is pretty good.

Judging by their message boards, they already have. Most of them had unrealistic expectations for this year to begin with.

Have not posted much around here but really enjoy reading the postgame reports. With a combination of these three, it's amazing how much more it's noticeable that skill and working as a team goes a long way. This team is clearly at its best when they play tough defense, attack the basket, and work together with intensity. The stronger inside the Vols work, the better the chance to win.

Dominating Memphis and Pitt and beating Villanova, it's obvious that the potential is there to truly elite team. Players need to step up and keep each other motivated as they really feed off each other and momentum. Here's to hoping they keep this up into conference play.

One thing about the game that can't be overlooked is when Memphis made their run, especially early in the second half, we fought back really well. Pearl's teams typically fold in the second half with a big lead when the opponent makes that type of run. Good to see it didn't happen tonight.

Memphis radio will be ugly.

And it is not something that can be fixed with a practice or two, nor a different lineup. When you have a team of me first attitudes and people who want highlights instead of playing as a team you lose, especially when the other team is hitting shots. Just ask Tennessee when we played Oakland or CofC.

This team really is too young, inexperienced and made up of too many 4 and 5 start pre-madonnas especially to have a young energetic coach who hasn't been through enough experience himself.

Judging by the end, I see them as needing a Starting 5 of Barton, Barton, Jackson, Crawford and that white guy who was freaking drilling 3s at the end, DAMN... remember we had Dane playing PF that one year, it just needs to be more run and gun but less selfish work

Spot on as always Hat. Hardly gets mentioned unless it's terrible but I thought the officiating tonight was excellent - that surely was not an SEC crew, was it?

There really aren't conference crews like there are in football. The basketball guys work games in mutiple leagues. All three of those guys will do some SEC games. I did think they were solid.

I wasn't aware of that - thanks for the knowledge.

People can't even show up for Memphis? It was definitely high 15k/low 16k there tonight, pretty disappointing. We have the wintry mix going on right now but it's not bad at all.

The cheer routine at the half was pretty brutal as well.

Did anyone see the guy in the dark blue hoodie pass out? That may have been the most embarrasing moment of my life.
