Couple of thoughts-

Glad to see we've spent time working against a zone defense. That may be the best zone o I've seen by a ut team since Ron slay tore apart Syracuse early 01-02.

Not a fan of state pressing late in the game. Not sure at that point it can do any good to help your team and it looks petty and cheap.

It looks petty and cheap to press late in the game? Ha, that's funny. That's like saying it's petty and cheap to blitz the QB late in a football game that has already been lost. You play to win no matter the score. I don't understand, should Memphis have stopped playing D altogether?

They played D yesterday?

I hear they play Melissa Etheridge music during the Kiss-Cam segment at Lady Vol games.

I was wrong about it being a hard game to win I will gladly admit. Pleasantly surprised.Seeing that Memphis has a ton of young players and Tennessee beat them like a drum as they beat Pitt I don't see Josh's coaching future in trouble. Cal would have lost last night too. UT can play toe to toe with any team when all cylinders are firing.

It also helps when you are playing against a church league 2-3 zone.

When did they start?

We attacked the high post, which we've not done at all against a 2-3. It wasn't much better or worse that anybody else that has thrown it at us. We actually just attacked it for a change.

I'm aware of what we did and it was good to see but that sorry zone helped.

Has anybody seen the highlights on sportscenter? I've been up since around 4 and still haven't seen them at all. The only college games they've shown are the Duke, Kansas, and SDSU games I believe. Maybe I'm just overlooking it but I could swear they haven't been on all night.

Minor detail, but the game at Syracuse was in 2000-01, prior to that the season's collapse. We did play Cuse again at TBA the following year, and it was the game that Slay tore his ACL in, which led to Haislip seeing more touches and then turning pro early.

Looking forward to the UF-UT tilt next Tuesday.

Can't figure out why that game is at 9, though, being as both teams are east coast.

Thing is, even if UF catches you in one of your bipolar-low moments, we still can't get a W versus Pearl.

Memphis is uncoached. Makes the Finch years look like Knight was on the sidelines. Let's not forget that losing Kendrick hurt, but the coaching is pure AAU.

Good thing for you BP won't be in the building.

hat was saying the same thing last night. There were many times Memphis didn't know what defense they were in.

I didn't notice it but hat pointed out there was an exchange where Pastner tried to call time out and the players either didn't hear or ignored him and just kept playing.

When Pastner was hired, and the Memphis fans were on VN raving about how great he was, I kept pointing out that he had actually 0 games of head-coaching experience. I wonder what they now think about replacing Calipari with a guy with no experience as a head coach anywhere.

Will the real Tennessee basketball team please stand up? Is it the team we saw tonight or the team that loses to CoC? Lol, crazy sports teams.
I have started to ask this question myself, but I am not so sure I would like the answer.

The same as UT fans think about Dooley, except that Pastner has already proven he can recruit and Dooley hasn't.

There really aren't conference crews like there are in football. The basketball guys work games in mutiple leagues. All three of those guys will do some SEC games. I did think they were solid.

I thought they did a good job other than the white haired ref who starting getting foul happy on touch fouls for both teams.

Another Fluke game Hat?

I'm not hat, but I think the conclusions this season are pretty obvious.

*After Nova and Pitt: we're one of the top three teams in the country.

*After Nova, Pitt, and Oakland: Oakland was a fluke, we're one of the top teams in the country.

*After Nova, Pitt, Oakland, and Charlotte: optimistic people can say Oakland was pretty good, Charlotte was a fluke, and we're still quite good. Pessimistic people can say Nova wasn't as good as we thought, Pitt was a fluke, and we're not that good.

*After Nova, Pitt, Oakland, Charlotte, USC, Martin, CofC: Nova wasn't as good as we thought, Pitt was a fluke. We're a bad team.

*Right now: none of them were flukes. We are one of the most inconsistent teams you'll ever see. When we're playing well, we're one of the top three teams in the country. When we're playing poorly, we're not good enough to make the tournament. But both happen far too often to be considered flukes.
