I'll say this now but if anyone thinks this year has been brutal, wait until next year. And this is before we receive the LOA.

I wouldn't be so sure replacing Goins, S. Pearl and Williams with 2 more guards will probably get our pressing back which is where Bruce is at his best. This is assuming Scotty and Tobias return. if not I agree with you whole heartedly.

I might be delusional, but I still think we'll be a better team next year. We'll be more athletic and more talented. We have a lot of guys getting minutes this year who really don't have a role or know how to play their position. We'll miss the Hopson of the last couple of weeks (because I think he's looking like a draft pick), but I think Harris can step into that role just fine.

Yep and with all the Bigs we have coming in we are going to be a monster in the paint.. cant wait!

Jones and Ware can both play, and you look at that roster and it is pretty talented. A lot of top 50 recruit players on that thing, and I think a definite upgrade at center and PG in talent, our two biggest weaknesses.

I'll have to respectfully disagree. We don't have an effective 5 and CJ may not get in. If Hopson leaves, no scorer. Tobias may take his place but he is not as dynamic or a game changer. And finally, will Pearl be coaching.

One of the main peoblems with this team is that they think they are better than really are. You can just see it in the way they start out games. They think they can stroll out there and turn it on at any moment and pull out a win.

I can see that. I'm hopeful CJ gets in, but if he doesn't, I still think Golden is a much better PG than Goins with some experience. Also, I think the same can be said for Hall or Maymon for BW, even if Maymon isn't a true center. I think both are much more agressive on the boards and better finishers around the basket.

As for Hopson, he's been great as of late, but I think Harris can definitely fill that role. He's regressed as of late, but he's been hurt and we have to remember he's a freshman. He's going to be a very good one.

I really find it tough to believe that you take out BW, Goins, and Pearl and replace them with the talent that is sitting on the bench that you aren't going to get better.

I honestly think this is our only chance next year. Press and score in transition.

If Scotty continues to play like he has then I think he is gone. Especially if Bruce is gone.

I think Scotty may be gone whether or not he continues to play like he has. I wouldn't have said that a couple of months ago, but I think his potential has shown lately and that's all that Scouts really need to see. You can't ignore his athleticism.

They had Chris Dortch from Blue Ribbon on the Zone here in Nashville the other day he said that an NBA scout told him that Hopson was probably the best athlete that could be coming out this year.

Athletically, no doubt. He's up there and has been since he came here. It's just a matter of him putting forth the effort throughout the game and being tough mentally and on the court. His athletic ability is unquestionable. He glides around the court effortlessly, has long arms, and can jump out of the gym.

All you need to do is look at Demar Derozan, who is a similarly built player, another Mcdonalds All American who came out with Hopson, but who was a bit meaner, tougher, and more aggressive. He left after his first year and is making millions starting in the NBA now. No reason Hopson can't be doing that too.

I have officially given up on this team as a group. If they make the tournament and make some noise then I'll cheer them on, as I will for the rest of the other games, but as of today, I expect absolutely nothing. A tournament spot is theirs to piss away and they are in mid stream...

Why is Bruce choosing Hopson when the opponent gets a technical? That's two straight (UF last week) where we have had technical FTs at a key moment and Hopson has made 1-2.

Am I the only person here that thought they played hard today? I just thought Georgia played really well. I don't see things like the OP. I hate that we are not a top 25 team this year, but it is the first year that has been true since Pearl has been here.

I know I'm gonna be lambasted for low-expectations, but I just don't see it as the end of the world. Pearl has proven over and over again that he can get good results from average talent. This team is the anomaly, not the rule. They are guilty of the unforgivable evil of having average talent and playing averagely. That doesn't take away that Pearl has proven to be a good coach since he has been here.

I swear, there are some of you who are legitimately upset about Pearl lying to the NCAA. That's fine. But the rest of you are just using that as cover to call for Pearl's head because you are too big of babies to be able to accept an average season after being spoiled--relatively speaking--by Pearl himself for the last five years.

I didn't like that either. Goins was the logical choice.

Looks like you missed the "beating a dead horse" thread. Honest mistake.

You're completely missing the point but I'm not surprised.

Oh, I see. Because Alabama beat UK at home and we lost to them at home, we'll probably beat UK. Good point.

By year 6 it's more than reasonable for people to expect him to field a team of above average players given our success over the past few years. There's no reason that Pearl and McBee continue to see the minutes that they do. He chose the guys that play for him,, so the blame goes right back to him if the team isn't talented.

He's shooting 73% from the line. That's about even with Harris, slightly below Goins, and ahead of the rest of the guys who get a lot of minutes. Only Bone, McBee, and Golden are appreciably higher on many fewer attempts, and there is a good chance they weren't on the floor.

I think that it's a lot better than squandering riches, which is what his two predecessors did.

Eh, you could go either way. With Hopson, you put someone on the line who is shooting a good percentage but also has already taken a lot of shots and more FTs in the game. I don't think Goins had a single jumpshot up to that point.
