1. Honoring Jack Cristil before the game was a classy touch by UT. It was nice to see John Ward and Gus Manning come over to give their regards.
2. Losing to that Mississippi State on a day Renardo Sidney took the second half off is inexcusable. Just another in a litany of bad home lossess this season.
3. If you like good shot selection, this game was torture. It was if both teams thought shots inside the arc were outlawed for a period.
4. Scotty Hopson had another sound performance. However, another bricked free throw late removes some of the luster.
5. Kodi Augustus is a winner. Without him, State would have been totally wiped out inside.
6. Tobias Harris was solid. He did, however, fall in love with his jumpshot again.
7. Dee Bost was the difference. He made a play every time Tennessee tried to get contol.
8. Using the last timeout before Lewis' free throw was idiotic. Once UT did that, all he had to do was miss the shot and a desperation shot was all you could get.
9. Renardo Sidney is this generation's Benoit Benjamin. He's an epic waste of talent.
10. UT has to shake this one off immediately. Two wins next week is essential to having some semblence of momentum for the postseason.

If Pearl would have saved that timeout we could have had the ball at half court after a made free throw, correct?

Just ridiculous. Bad coaching, bad shot selection, bad play outside of Hopson and Harris, and an overall bad loss.

He would have missed the FT on purpose, regardless of the timeout. Not calling the timeout would have allowed us to call it with the ball at midcourt with about a second left, at best.

Despite their quality wins and RPI, I'm not sure two wins next week isn't a necessity. If they lose these two and first round of the SECT, I can't imagine a 17-15 team makes the NCAAs. IMO they must win them both.

You can take the time out on the catch and then inbound the ball from the baseline.

Um, I bet not. Our team isn't smart enough.

I was already convinced a change was necessary but this game made it much more important. This team degrades the value of the word team.

I've already counted. That's 5 losses in the past few years, because someone was left undefended under the basket on the last defensive play (2007 @Vandy, 2009 @Auburn, 2010 vs Mich. St., and this season @Charlotte and today).

Look at who we are competing with. Bama just played there way out and more teams will. This bubble is awful.

Plenty of time for someone to get it closer and shoot a three

I'd rather make a pass and call timeout at midcourt with 1 second left, then have to go the length of the floor somehow in 3 seconds.

Chill, we'll be in

Anyone who thinks we aren't in right now obviously has no idea of how terrible the bubble and the at-large field as a whole is. This is going to be the craziest tournament in years, mainly because it's so even and there's no clear-cut #1.

I think we need 2 wins to assure ourselves of a bid. We either need two wins next week, or go 1-1 to finish 8-8 in the SEC and then avoid a horrible loss in the first round of the SECT.

Did Pearl take the TO under the impression no foul was called, therefore he needed the TO to set up a play with 4ish seconds left? That's what I thought happened. Then he noticed a foul was called and he was screwed.
