Well...yeah. I'm still pretty sure we can beat SC and then beat the worst road team in the SEC at home. Can't assume anything with this group of jokers though.
Blaming the L on BP for that TO is silly. You are still looking at a desperation shot. Goins should have played fundamental D, rather than up in Bost's jersey 35 ft from the hoop.
Actually, he played good D there. He had to be careful not to foul or give him a clean look. He made Bost make an off-balance spin move into the help D, to the point that he traveled. If the travel gets called, as it should've, there'd be a whole lot more people talking about how we toughed out an ugly game.
1. Honoring Jack Cristil before the game was a classy touch by UT. It was nice to see John Ward and Gus Manning come over to give their regards.
2. Losing to that Mississippi State on a day Renardo Sidney took the second half off is inexcusable. Just another in a litany of bad home lossess this season.
3. If you like good shot selection, this game was torture. It was if both teams thought shots inside the arc were outlawed for a period.
4. Scotty Hopson had another sound performance. However, another bricked free throw late removes some of the luster.
5. Kodi Augustus is a winner. Without him, State would have been totally wiped out inside.
6. Tobias Harris was solid. He did, however, fall in love with his jumpshot again.
7. Dee Bost was the difference. He made a play every time Tennessee tried to get contol.
8. Using the last timeout before Lewis' free throw was idiotic. Once UT did that, all he had to do was miss the shot and a desperation shot was all you could get.
9. Renardo Sidney is this generation's Benoit Benjamin. He's an epic waste of talent.
10. UT has to shake this one off immediately. Two wins next week is essential to having some semblence of momentum for the postseason.
What's up with the crowd? It seems like both the fans and team take the first half off.
Lackluster play + burned a whole bunch of times at home already this season = lackluster fans. If there's no energy on the floor, there's not going to be any energy in the stands.
I hate our fanbase for usually 95 percent of every home game. I don't want to hear nothing to cheer for crowd either. It's called making TBA and electric fun enviroment. some need to have some fun and loosen up a bit. Several around me didn't get up off their rears until it was time to leave...grief...just watched the replay of the game and jimmiy dykes commented on how sorry our crowd was, "atleast the students are making some noise"....good grief...I gave my all today for TN...Go Vols...beating a dead horse I know..

Yeah, but I feel this team needs the fans more than any other team under Pearl. I think if the fans would be a bit more vocal from the get go then this team might have a better home record. I've gone to two home games this year and it was pretty quiet in the first half both times.
In general the crowd is only going to give you what you earn. Think about the Swamp during the Zook years -- all my Gator friends could talk about was how dead the stadium was because the team was crummy. And then they started winning, and the crowd went right back to normal. This UT basketball team has been consistently disappointing at home, has repeatedly played down to the level of its competition, and has generally not bothered to show up for the first half. No crowd is going to keep bringing it and bringing it and bringing it when they get nothing back.
