what I saw last night...

Maze looks confused, scared or nervous. One late timeout I saw him taking deep breaths and looking very nervous.

The only player I really enjoy watching is Chism and as mentioned he still has mental lapses.

The 14 point run to start the game by Tatum was incredible. He should be very good, very soon.

I wish Pearl would give Hopson his walking papers. I specifically watched him last night and I have rarely seen a player act like that. Zero passion, zero heart and you can clearly tell he doesn't give a damn about the team.

Um JP, dunk the effing basketball and do nothing else.

Tyler plays hard and is a good college player but does not have an NBA game IMO. He still doesn't have a jump shot.

Loved the atmosphere last night!
Scotty was throwing uo, sleeping, and taking IVs all day. He played pretty decent for someone with a bad flu. I would imagine he had very little energy and adrenline got him through his minutes. I think the fact he even played at all shows he cares about this team.

I do not understand this mentality. I considered posting all of the reasons why it is wrong, but it is not worth the time. It is simply wrong.

I am happy that Pearl will not do as you suggest.

We play like what we are...a team full of tokers. Until BP decides to deal seriously with that issue, expect more of the same. Even though BP has sent 5 players walking for smoking, they all still got at least 4 strikes!!! I would expect a couple of players "suspended" before the season is over.

I assume that you have plenty of evidence to make such an accusatory post?

Honestly, if you look at UT's history and basketball culture in general it's not that big of a stretch.

Maybe. But it's one thing to speculate that the team's problems might be attributed to the players smoking too much weed....it's another to declare it as a statement of fact.

it almost assumes that the other programs against whom we're competing aren't weed factories. I promise you that assumption is incorrect.

are you claiming the 4 strikes is a CBP rule?

Tracy McGrady smokes weed before every game -- at least he used to when he played in Orlando. And I'm not kidding.

If i had to guess i would say about 30-35% of all student-athletes and about 50-55% of all NBA players smoke weed.. and the coaches know about it

Heard that as well, but thought "Does it really make a difference? Really?"

100% or not, to airball a wide open 3 with little time remaining is pathetic, he shoots about as good as Ramar Smith! He usually is a great slasher but was missing to many layups last night and none of his tip rebounds were falling.

I have the munchies now. While I think our defensive play is lacking we still can shoot our way into a game. There were way too many WTF moments on the D and O side last night, but yet we were tied at the end of regulation. And everyone except Tyler seemed scared of the ball in OT. It was give the ball to Tyler and stand out of his way.

The point guard is what is missing, and this will lose several mosre games for us this year.

If I have to watch one more player get beat back door or a guard on their team drive to the basket and nobody steps up to take a charge or force a pass I am going to go crazy.

Our half court offense looks like a JV practice. None of the players are in the right positions on the court half the time, and then when someone drives to the basket everyone stands and watches. Meanwhile Chism is fighting by himself for damn near every rebound.

Brian Williams is the softest big man I have ever seen and I really thought he might come around this year. But the old school drop step that center pulled on him last night was the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. We desperately need a post player and a better point guard.

I was all about Maze and he started off pretty good but he has somehow been lost in this system, ) assists and your the starting point guard..??? Come on bro you need to step it up.

Hopson can shoot and Tatum can shoot they should be on the court like Lofton and JuJuan were last year.

Tyler Smith I think he is a tremendous player but sometimes he forces to many things and tries to hard to get the foul when he should be going up strong to the basket. From the reports I read this offseason he had been practicing shooting the 3 ball all summer. I have seen him take 2 attempts from beyond the 3 point line. He is open a lot from behind the ark and I wish he would get some focus and take some attempts, rather than Chism.

I hope Bruce makes Tabb,Maze,Williams,Prince, and Hopson run the floor over and over this season until they learn how to either get more physical or stop getting beat to the basket!

For all who said that it was because UTC was disgracefully bad back on page 2, I don't think that's the issue.

We were together that night. It showed with 30+ assists. We shot 3s better than we do now, we shot FTs better than we do now, Woolridge didn't undershoot everything he puts up, and not much of that is because of their defense.

We've played terribly vs. UNC Asheville and La. Lafeyette, who are just as terrible as UTC, and it was noticeable how much better the team looked in the first game than they did in those. That UTC game was also without JP and Tabb. Even though UTC is bad, it was one of three games this season where we haven't looked like a 8th seed tournament team.

are you claiming the 4 strikes is a CBP rule?

not necessarily, I believe it's the most liberal interpretation of the university's drug policy regarding athletics. PF certainly took advantage of it as well. I don't fault the coaches for bending it as much as possible. However, when you hear coaches talk about "changing the culture", what do you think they're talking about? Doesn't the university and athletic administration share the burden since they implement, administer, and enforce policy?

Pearl needs to cut his rotation down, I think he is playing some guys more mins, than he should, because he expects them to produce. So far some of the guys on paper should be better right now, it is just not happening.
