For as out of gas as we looked we still could of won if Scotty wouldn't have gotten in foul trouble.

JPs hang on the rim cost us the game. That totally changed the momentum and swung the game.

Refs were awful.

I was most frustrated with Chism's play and our inability/unwillingness to get him the ball in the post. If he's planning to play in the NBA, he better be able to handle the likes of Ogilve and Vanderbilt. 1 point though 25-30 minutes of the game will simply not get it done.

I also think that if we are counting on McBee, Pearl, and Woolridge to carry serious minutes, then we may be in trouble down the stretch.

Honestly, I'm afraid that this will be a team that absolutely MUST hit a number of second-half threes to win games. My guess is that we will only be able to do that about half the time.

I want to know how a coach's son can only shoot 11% from the free throw line.

Defense and heart went late. Chism was a no show on D and we can't live with that. Beal and Ogilvy needed our help to do what they did. Very poor effort at home in a rivalry.

I agree 100% BPV. This team gave up. I thought we had a shot but when you get down by that much most people just give up. That's coaching right there (not that I'm saying Bruce is a terrible coach, though)

J.P. had an excellent game otherwise, but the two plays that resulted in technicals gave Vandy a ton of psychological motivation.

Say what you will about Kevin Stallings, but he does a damn good job in getting the most out of what he's got to work with.

I'm giving Wayne a pass, somewhat, because he obviously wasn't 100%, but I don't think it's asking too much of guys like Hopson, Prince and Maze to be on the floor for 30 minutes out of 40 and not be completely gassed by the end of the game, especially since we've dropped the press, for the most part.

If I were gameplanning against the Vols I would definitely pack it in and make them beat you with jump shots. There is no one on this team can consistently shoot the ball...its sad. I miss Loften :(

8. The ball has to go Wayne Chism in the post much more often. UT settled for jumpers far too quickly and far too often.

they have to go inside more often

no offensive direction... no discipline... this teams favorite thing to do is jack up 3's. pearl seems ok with it.

but not much different than the effort we've seen since KU. this effort was a little better than UGA... but nothing like the KU game. where's the motivator when we need him?

He deserves to be heckled. Anyone that shoots 11% from the foul line, gets every shot he takes blocked, and travels every time he gets in the lane deserves to be heckled.

I can't agree with that on any level. Heckling our players is not something that gets a pass. Sorry. I'm new to the forum, but hardly new to UT or the sports programs. 'Course, this is all just my opinion. If a player isn't doing a good job, it's up to the coach to determine what happens. Not the fans trying to heckle them off the court or field. There's much more to it, but I'll stop here.

Go BallerVols.....

Interesting note on Rucker's twitter: "#Vols PG Bobby Maze said Fr G Skylar McBee went to Pratt Pavilion after tonight's loss to put up more 3-point shots."

JP meant to hit that guy in the face on the first technical. And on his 2nd how was he not thrown out? 2 techs get a guy out of the game, last I recall.

One positive from last night! "Sky"lar will never hang from the rim.

if our D that bad or are GA and Vandy great shooting teams?

Just because we miss uncontested 3s doesn't mean Ga and Vandy will. Our d has not been very good or aggressive the last 2 games. Of course if 2 of your starters are out with 4 fouls at the start of the second half and 1 is sitting with his second T then your not going to be very effective defensively.

I agree with whoever essentially said we shouldn't get angry with walkons playing like walkons, but McBee took enough shots last night to be treated a little differently. He went 1-6 from 3-land, because he just kept chucking them up. He hit a big 3 and had a nice steal and layup, but after that he tried way too hard to be Chris Lofton.

Trust me - I am a lot more upset over Hopson's stupid 4th foul than McBee's shooting %, but at the same time, the guy isn't Lofton. He can't just keep taking every shot that comes his way at the start of a possession.

So, basically, Woolridge and McBee have regressed since the KU game, and Bone has regressed since the Ole Miss game. I think it's pushing it to suggest Steven Pearl has regressed from anything. I was just happy to get the 1 FT he made last night. These guys really stepped it up after their teammates got suspended, but I think we're finally feeling the effects of the guys we've lost.

Steven Pearl letting a rebound bounce off his face into Ogilvy's hands for an easy put back summed up his performance perfectly.

Shot selection has been and seemingly will always be a problem as long as Bruce is the coach, not to sound like Pitino from his Celtics days but Lofton and JuJuan aren't walking through that door. Skylar taking three straight shots from 25 feet out with nobody underneath to even attempt an offensive board, killed us.

If this team can maximize it's possessions, not go for the highlight reel on alley-oops and fancy lay-ups, we could be a pretty good offensive team.

Defensively where do you start? When yo have the likes of Skylar McBee and Steven Pearl playing serious minutes, your in trouble.

J.P.'s strength is also is weakness, when he is pumped up for a game he usually shows up and plays well, he also commits stupid fouls and plays out of control, has anyone in the game of basketball ever jump=passed as much as J.P.?

Hat nailed it, a win against a streaking Florida would stabilize us, a lose could send this team to the middle of the SEC.

I am at a loss as to why Tatum and Goins aren't seeing more playing time. Tatum is clearly better than McBee and Goins is better than Bone. Makes no sense to me to keep better players on the bench and go with 3 walk-ons. That's went the game went south with Pearl, McBee, and Bone on the floor at the same time.

this and our inconsistent effort and focus are my biggest problems with CBP. he gets such credit on this board and nationally for being a "motivator". i just don't see it. the halfcourt offense woes are well documented.

ESPN said something about offsetting technicals not counting towards your 2.
