The shut down thread

Well, I really hate to bust your bubble but, heard she was fine with a metal slat smart wall a few minutes ago on the radio driving.

Actually she said she would support a bipartisan border deal. "If left to their own devices, if they have a bipartisan agreement, I will support it,” There will not be a bipartisan deal that includes 5.7B for a wall. It's still true that most Americans don't support a border wall.

He's been trying to pawn off tweets as facts.

Most Americans agree we need to address illegal immigration. Most Americans also agree a border wall is not the way to do it.

According to some people here Dims are in the majority (the popular vote vs the EC issue). Dims had control of things for eight years and didn't fix the problem, so what is the majority proposing that will work?

GOP had both chambers plus POTUS for two years. Border crossings are down. Now, suddenly, it's all the Dems' fault. Someone should point out to Trump that the people he puts out there in the SOTU who recently lost loved ones lost them on HIS watch, and he did jack shiite for two years about it.

Not fooling anyone.

Now you are using another flawed measure. Sheesz, you cannot be this obtuse.

No I asked a question , I had a follow up to that but you are not wanting to travel down that road . What should worry you is that SOTU was highly viewed , you are said it’s flawed be Dems didn’t watch it ( which they did but whatever ) the fact remains is there was a ton of Rs and independents that did and found it favorable . From your point of view that can’t be a good thing .

You are saying contradictory things. On the one hand, you acknowledge that the audience skewed significantly Republican, because it is a Republican President. On the other hand, you are saying that we can glean from this that independents viewed it favorably.

The second thought is not consistent at all with the first.

It almost as if Trump really doesn't care about illegal immigration, and is only using this as a wedge issue to rile up his base. But I know that can't be true because he's a deeply-principled man.

I also said some Dems watched it . The point is more people watched it than his last or Barry’s last one and viewed it favorably. If I was a Dem with TDS I would be concerned that so many people no matter what party was wanting to hear him give that speech .

I'm not at all concerned with whether other people liked it. There were parts I liked. There were some very Dem concepts in there, such as protecting coverage for preexisting conditions and mandating that employers give their employees family leave. These are regulations, sir. On businesses and insurers. Why so quiet about them?

Funny how the GOPers have stayed mum about those notions, and instead just keep talking about their red meat issues for the base, like the wall.

So you are t concern is people liked it but are concern with the polls showing his rating % . Better be careful with that last one when other data like more people viewing his speeches and approving of it . You’ll end up in another 2016 drama fest in 2020 .

Sigh, we are going around in circles. All you can do is repeat that the majority of people liked it.

When it is pointed out to you that the majority of people that watched would have said they liked it if he stood up there and drew stick figures and ate crayons, you just go back to "the majority of people liked it."

We get it. The majority of people who were going to like it, in fact liked it. Well done. Kudos to you.

Was just on the news that it should be finalized by this weekend. Will be voted on during the day Wednesday by the house with the Senate following.
