It is a failure on all those idiots. That includes Democrats and Republicans. Bunch of damn fools throwing tantrums and calling it governing.

Mitch McConnell needed to retire before he was born.

Friday's not here yet so let's wait & see what happens on where this is going.
Those Americans who aren't being affected by it need to stop calling the other side names.
Calling the other side names or to put blame on the other side will do no good & serves no purpose for the better. I'm sure there's somebody burning the midnight oil trying to hatch a solution to keep the government open & keeping heads from exploding from anger. Like a poster said.....life will continue. This is not the end of the world.

Trump went to the Pentagon and said the word "military" at least 10 times in 60 seconds. Then blamed the Dems.

He's kinda cute, being so stupid.

That is the first thing that needs to be massively cut. Trump doesn't have the balls to do it. Neither do the Dems.

As much as he wants to claim he's an outsider and not a politician, he's as much a politician as any of those clowns on the hill. He's just "modern day" politician.

Except that on top of that , he's an idiot.

The thing is, he takes the position of literally the last person to talk to him. He announces no consistent position because he has no position.

Is this something the House and Senate can do without the President? It sounded like they were close to a workable compromise with their proposal last week. Add CHIP and Military.

If the shut down will only effect non-essential positions why do these positions exist in the first place?

Does it say something about Democrat voters that their reps make literally every issue into an existential threat. Paris accord, net neutrality, tax cuts, temporary government budgets. People will die!!!

Absolutely sick and f'ing tired of the party that is not getting their way pulling this crap. I said it when Republicans were doing it and I will say it now that Democrats are being obstructionists. These stupid prick politicians need to work together. Neither side is completely wrong or completely right and there is common ground. And if you're a minority politician you've got to give more.

How many of you on either side of the issue will be consistent? Or is this just one of those issues that brings out the hypocrisy in most people?

The House and Senate can do it without the President right? Override his veto if he don't like it. Throw everything in except the wall funding. The art of compromise is dead since all of the issues have been know for some time and now they are left scrambling to reach a deadline for thing we all want and need.

We need more funding for border security as well.

Exactly right. It's basically political terrorism by the minority party. People miss paychecks, parks close. the economy stalls, etc all for a few days of political blame. And the American people are too dumb to blame the right people for the shutdown.

Weren't the Dems. supposed to make a bill to do away with the CR that has become nothing more than a political football?

Shutdown is a red herring to get our attention off of the FISA report. It's starting to look like there was a failed gov't coup against our democracy, primarily powered by Democratic leadership, but fueled also from gov't neocons.

I am so sick and tired of hearing about the dreamers!!! The legal parents of kids that were born in this country dream about their kids succeeding as well.. It’s like we reward people who break the law and could give it a shat less about those who follow it
