There is clearly a problem with allowing unchecked / uncontrolled immigration along the southern border. I work with a lot of BP agents from that area, and they all say the same thing. It's out of control down there. Same goes with USCG and state / local LEO's from that area. Out of control. The drugs, the violence, the human smuggling, and all that goes with it. When you have signs posted miles inside of the U.S. warning people that the area they are in is potentially dangerous, you have a problem.
Is a wall / fence the answer? I don't know. Is it worth shutting the government down to force an agenda? Probably not. But politicians have kicked this can down the road for decades now (just like the federal deficit, and one of these days that dragon's gonna come out of the cave), and now we find ourselves locked in a standoff with ourselves. Washington, D.C. is dysfunctional, and has been for years. Probably won't change in our lifetime.
Then you see and read about some of the lunacy that is coming out of the mouths of those same politicians (on both sides of the aisle), and you wonder if they have ever even bothered to read the Constitution of the United States, much less the Bible. Yes, this was a nation founded "under God". If you don't like that fact, there are numerous airlines with non-stop service to the Middle East.
As for me, I am the Minister of Defense of 3/4 of an acre in south Georgia. Can't figure out how I manage it with my humble budget, and yet Congress can't get it done with billions of dollars they take from us every year.
Guess I'm just simple-minded. Mr. Daniels wrote a song about that.
