The SNL Thread.......

Particularly Samberg. Some of the digital shorts are a miss, but the ones that they hit the mark on make the ones that suck worth it. They've basically been the most memorable thing from the past 5-6 years of SNL. I don't know if the other Lonely Island guys will stay with the show, but without Samberg the shorts would be lacking something.

I think the shorts will still get made, they are a separate deal that just get aired on the show. One of the Lonely Island guys wasn't a cast member on SNL at all.

I didn't think either of the other two were ever true cast members. I know at least one was a writer for a while.

Yeah, pretty sure the other LI guys weren't cast members. If Samberg, Wiig and Sudeikis leave (i probably spelled them all wrong) the show will be worthless. Pharoah is the one bright spot I can think of.

It's just a generational thing. Nearly everyone thinks SNL was at it's best during the time that they were in their late teens and into their 20's.

Nope. After the first 5-6 seasons, it's been dying every year. At one time, every single show, every single bit, every single skit and every single musical guest was prime. Not a wasted minute.

I've watched a few episodes from the first season, notasinglelaughwasmade

80's through the late-nineties for me personally.

I agree that was the best era of the show but I still find Hader, Wiig, Armisen, Samberg, Sudeikis cast has done very well, often.

Wiig is clearly VERY talented but a few of her skits annoyed me. I constantly laugh at Hader and Samberg. Armison is good too.

SNL in general is a show that I've grown up with and would have to reeeeaaaallly suck for a long time for me to stop watching. It's culturally relevent and during election season it can be both maddening and hilarious.

It's cool to watch newcomers blossom into stars.

I think Phil Hartman was my favorite male performer. (Just ahead of Chris Farley)
Tina Fey is tops for the women.

Sudeikas is no big loss imo if he leaves.

My problem with SNL hasn't been the actors so much as the writing. It's been mostly garbage for almost 10 years now to me. Too much political stuff. Especially during the Bush terms. It just got old. Same now.

I agree with this. Count me among those who won't be disappointed in the least that Garth and Kat will no longer be making appearances at the Weekend Update desk. Same goes for Gilly. However, Judy Grimes and the Target Lady will be missed.
