Man U. and Chelsea are on ESPN2 right now. Chelsea's keeper has made some amazing saves.

Christiano Ronaldo has to stop doing that little stop he does on PK's... The Keeper knows it's coming... Cech didn't even flinch.

must say that was a good game but I hated that it came down to PK's. I have never liked that rule

I think the very low scoring and the place kicks ruin the game. Hockey is similar, but at least the goalie has at least even odds of stopping shots.

I actually found myself rooting for the French National Team at the 06 WC once England was eliminated. Zidane was my hero, especially after he head butted that one guy to the ground.

He might be your hero but I couldn't disagree more about his actions. That whole maneuver looked very "sissy-ish" and adds to the stereotype that many Americans view soccer with.

I don't think it took away from the play but it's still an anti-climactic way to end it IMO. You're right though, it's not hard to predict the correct sideto go to but a well struck shot is almost impossible to save. I taken many and it usually took a mistake by the kicker for me to stop them.

actually the head-butt was more vicious than most of the NBA slap fights I've seen :p

I don't think its an anti-climactic way of ending it. To me its very similar to a kicker trying a game winning field goal. Not the way you'd like to win the game, but its exciting either way.

I agree penalties aren't the best indication of skill, but it is hard to think of a better way to end the game... You can't keep having overtime because with three subs people aren't going to be able to walk... Also, the longer you go, the harder it is to shoot.

Not really, usually that involves a drive down the field, and the team earning it. I actually think penalties are very exciting, just not a great indicator of who is better.
