1. Tennessee had a chance for a golden opportunity to win a huge game on the road and get a signature out of conference win but couldn't do it. They lost their composure and two or three plays really made the difference.

2. The decision to not attack the half court press/zone was stupid and indefensible. Martin has to adjust to that and he didn't. It cost UT the game.

3. Free throws. I don't want to look them, nor will I.

4. Jarnell Stokes took a step back today. He did not play like he needed to for Tennessee win. Neither did Maymon. Tennessee had to have solid games from both and neither won played like they could have.

5. The technical on Jordan McRae and the no call on the block on Maymon were two of the worst calls you will see on the collegiate level. Not coincidentally, it cost Tennessee five points. That kind of **** should not be accepted on the college level.

6. I thought the defense was pretty solid against a usually good offensive team. They did a good job funneling the help. But when WSU started going one on one in the post, it caused problems.

7. Bernard King Player of the Game: What can you say about Jordan McRae? He played his ass off and was the only one that showed up.

8. A.J. Davis provided really solid minutes, but foul trouble did him in. I wonder had him and Stokes not got in foul trouble how different this game would have been.

9. I don't understand why Martin didn't go through the high post against the zone defense. It's worked before and it would have worked today. That was horrible coaching.

10. Top ten road wins are really hard to get. Had UT played 5% better, they would have won. The coaching could have been better. The players made some dumb plays. If you want to win on the road, you can't have that. The effort was there. UT competed. This loss will have minimal impact on their tourney chances if they play solid during conference play and take care of business out of conference at home.

Good assessment, essentially agree with everything said.

One of my biggest gripes. Everyone that watches UT play knows Stokes and Maymon struggle with length under the basket. How do you not prepare a better gameplan to minimize that effect on 2 of your most important weapons? Stokes looked unmotivated and didn't get great looks all game. Partial credit to the WS defense, but more credit goes to bad coaching on Martin imo.

ESPN2 ends the game and immediately cuts to a smiling Bruce Pearl at the Michigan State game. I miss that man.

We were expected to lose this one, but damn we played well enough to win for about 35 minutes. Tough to watch us lose all composure and fall apart in the end.

Yeah I remember him getting upset vs WS in the tourney. Still will never forget Lofton getting us out of that 2 vs 15 upset we almost had.

its not up to the pg's to beat the press off the dribble. If they are at fault, it's for not directing jrich or mcrae to the middle of the floor to receive a pass and attack. That's the way you get them out of it and get good looks. Instead, you choose to allow them to do what they wanted, and launch some bull**** at the end of the shotclock due to the passivity.

It's ridiculous that we just watched an entire D1 game where they didn't adjust until it didn't matter. Ridiculous.

So you think we can still just play as expected in conference and comfortably get in? I'm worried the SEC isn't going to help our RPI much and we'll have to really overachieve to end up not on the bubble again.

We had all that momentum then Cotton got that "block" against Maymon and it killed every bit of momentum we had.

McRae kept trapping himself on the sidelines trying to break the press. I'm with you. How do you not know to work towards the middle of the floor? Also there were lots of lazy passes over the top of the press. If you're going over the top, make it a good crisp pass so no one can get to it.

Point blank Thompson should start. Bring Barton off the bench. Our Freshmen out hustle and play our upperclassmen. I wish Davis was 20lbs heavier. Hubbs isn't scoring but he's doing other things.

We take or the rest of the OOC schedule and beat the 2 ACC schools having 3 total wins against the ACC I think our RPI should be fine.

Down the stretch nothing went our way. Those refs should never be aloud to ref another game. The calls were downright pathetic, and totally one sided. Will see what happens at the end of the year, but it feels like we have seen this scenario play out before. Feels like the same ****, different day.

I'd be fine with that. However, cm's offense basically asks the pg just to pass it around and attack the basket if in desperation. He has no idea how to coach the position or offense.

This post seems way too rational. Are you not about to throw yourself off a bridge?

Barton just doesn't make the plays Thompson can. I agree though. I hope a change is made soon. Thompson can average 5+ assist a game if he averaged more minutes.

Hope so. We're definitely setting ourselves up to not be able to have any bad losses in conference though. Last year we also started 6-3, but with losses to Georgetown, Okie State, and UVA, and a win against Witchita State. IMO we're in worse shape at this point this year than last year, and the SEC is really devalued this year because of how bad everybody's OOC games have gone.

That's because Barton is a sg. I thought the same thing during the game that Thompson should start.
