Indeed, the 'Yankee' text books (not 'tex' books) do not teach anything close to the truth. They actually mention slavery as a cause leading to the Civil War. We have learned here, in this forum, that the Civil War had absolutely nothing to do with slavery.come on hillbilly!!! you know yankee tex books are not gonna teach anything close to the truth.

Those text books have one creation story. The Bible has two...hey there, therealut! im so glad to have the spelling police on this board to correct all us dumb southern hicks! and those same wonderful TEXT books you seem to love so well say that we all crawled (god i hope i spelled that right!!!!) out of the sea and finally became human. those same TEXT books claim there is no GOD and hitting rocks together can create a universe. so as i said before we will have to agree to disagree......

My pride in the VolNation swells with every one of your posts.lets go ahead and outlaw the song Dixie while we are at it. might as well go ahead and dig up all the confederate dead and piss on their bones. and while we are at it lets go ahead and destroy every monument dedicated to the confederate dead. the sorry yankee bastards would not even recognize the confederate dead on memorial day. thats why memorial day was not celebrated in the southern states for years. you still have the sons and daughters of the confederacy to this day. most true southners can tell you their family history all the way back to the American revolution. go up north and you might find 1 in 20 who know anything about their family history dating back to the war of northern aggression or the American revolution. its a matter of pride and heritage in the south. some have used the confederate battle flag as a symbol of hate, but most southners who are educated are proud of the flag and its heritage. myself included.
Why is this exact point so hard for Southerners to get their arms around? Is it because those states in the South were exercising some "right" to rent asunder the US and those executing the war were somehow exonerated from turning their backs on the constitution to which they had sworn fealty? I appreciate that Lee cried "tears of blood" when finally deciding to join the rebels, but that doesn't in any way lessen the crime. Benedict Arnold did no more to harm the survival of the United States than those rebels who had previously been US officers. Why exactly would we hold memorials for people who died fighting to dissolve the United States?

As I recall the United Daughters of the Confederacy was in favor of changing the GA flag to remove the Confederate battle emblem. And that was back in the days when every pickup truck in GA had a "Forget Zell" bumber sticker. Now it has switched to the Southern Mystique argument? Do you have the daughters of the confederacy talking points?
