and yet I'm supposed to accept into law what your god says is moral? The bible is not the basis for law in the US nor is it the moral compass to many (no matter how many want to believe it)

I don't know how you could argue that......

That is a tough one to tackle....

oh really? the Bible says not to kill, not to steal, the Bible says not to lie. the Bible says to respect your mom and dad and you elders. so you're saying we shouldn't abide by that either?

That is something that should be left up to the parent and not the government.

The very last thing we would ever need is a theocracy.

you're right, I'm so glad the bible said killing and stealing was wrong or I might be gunning down people in the street and stealing their wallets.

I must have missed the "respect your elders" law and it appears there are many teens that should be locked up under the "respect your parents" statute.

That is a tough one also because the Bible shares commonalities with a lot of religions........

Like I said.... that is a really tough battle....

it shares that because there are basic things most know are wrong and religious texts just ran with that. If I had never read a single word of the bible I would still recognize basic wrong/right.

i'm sure with your childhood, you probably wouldn't understand a lot of morals. i guess my morals would be shot if i was constantly on the receiving end.

Which is why is a tough fight to argue that the Bible didn't influence our laws.

It made me wonder if he and pj were childhood friends, given his extensive knowledge of pj's upbringing.

Some people have different views from yours. They are not attacking your religion just pointing out where they differ on beliefs. You are not making a good case/example for your faith by chastising others for their views. If you would stay civil and debate the points you would make a better case for your views if that was your intent.

Which always goes back to the christianity part of the equation. In the end......... with regards for the case of Christ......... more harm is done that good.

Some of our laws had religious influence but it is hard to argue that point either way conclusively since we do not know what was in the framers mind at the time they put quill to paper.

At the time, the bible was a major player in a lot of public aspects of life.

However I do not believe for one moment that every framer was a born again christian.

That is silly!
