The Supreme Court of the United States Thread

Access to self defense.....

And yet we see that the overwhelming use of firearms by non-law enforcement is to hunt people down.

Somewhere in that fevered brain of yours is there a couple synapse bumping together that grasps that about all this decision does is make that last few remaining "may issue" states fall in line with the 40+ already "shall issue" (if not Constitutional Carry) states?

The overwhelming use of firearms is "placed in a drawer" and rarely touched. Stop

If "the overwhelming use of firearms by non-law enforcement is to hunt people down" were anything less than hysterical hyperbole the nation's population could fit in Neyland. The huge, VAST majority of civilian firearms will never be used to "hunt people down".

Same with voting?

Not exactly the same but I wish voters had to pass some sort of civics test. I definitely feel like voters should have to make some sort of effort to register to vote. That shouldn't be too easy. As for the 2nd Amendment, it does mention "regulation". That means mentally ill, convicted felons and others can be excluded. People weaponizing for self defense are clearly covered by the Constitution. It's been established that self defense is a clear constitutional right

It is also probably the first and oldest natural right, all the way back to when our first ancestors picked up rocks to defend their cave

Regulated militia is a separate subject from people's right to bear arms.

I'm assuming that you're expecting Breyer to succumb to the pressure of the liberal left and retire soon so that the idiot-in-chief can attempt to nominate a replacement.

He is 83 so either is a good possibility within the next few years.

He already announced his retirement at the end of the term, and the Senate already confirmed Jackson to replace him. I'm really surprised that several posters seem to have forgotten this.
