The Surprise of NSD!!! I'm Telling you!!!

VolDC I have one of the originals of this picture of Patten Pissing in the Rhine.

Well I hope whomever you decide to pass it on too after you are gone, understands the full meaning of it. Patton is one of the few men that I wish I could have met. Col. Winters would be another if you have ever seen "band of brothers". Then maybe Bobby Jones, Jackie Robinson, and hopefully one day Peyton Manning and Al Wilson. I don't include Christ, but i know him and will see him one day.......lol.

There were 4 original prints from the negative. I have one of them.

That is seriously cool. I read an article in SI about joe torre, and steinbreiner has one hanging in his office. although i hate the yakees.

I posted a thread not to long ago saying that we would be the surprise of NSD and was told by most not to be to optimistic. Now what? I'm telling you now and you heard it here first. This class will be a top five after Feb. 4th. Call me crazy but wait and see. I wouldn't be surprised if we jump into the top three. I can see Brown, Carroll, Myles, Jackson, Montgomery, Charles, and possibly even Richardson choosing us. Not to mention a few other great prospects. Just wait and see my friends. GO VOLS!!!

I'm happy with top 15 to be honest.....

I will tell you what was cool. It was your post. Very passionate, well stated and written. I think for a moment, a lot who will read your post will be able to relate to what we have all endured as VOL fans. It is truly hard not to be excited about Kiffin and Company, I think we are all so impatient right now in anticipation of excellence. We will have to earn the respect again of College Football fans and I feel that Kiffin was the best choice to get us back into the driver's seat.

The thing about the teams of the late 80's and the 90's is that they were teams that were going to survive and win on talent without coaching. They were teams of smoke and mirrors. As a result, the talent level did fall off but the Coaching that was not there in the 80's and 90's did not materialize in 2000. Therefore the talent level dropped off and the coaching could not fill the void. Now we have got the coaching and some talent base with the ability to do both (Coach and Recruit) which means Talent + Coaching equals Championships, Respect and the return to Dominance. It will not happen in a year but we are on track to see it happen within the next few years.

I'm pretty sure that johnny majors would have a lot in common with patton as far as offensive philosophy.

Not going to happen.

It looks like top four will go to LSU, OHIO ST., USC, and ALABAMA. After looking at who these programs are still in on, the top spot could belong to LSU, USC or (again) Alabama. Texas and Ohio St. look to be out of gas.

Not a tool but less informed about recruiting then some of these other guys. Your optimism is great but don't be pissed if it doesn't happen. I think we will pull in a few surprises also but will be bridesmaids with a lot of the big time names you listed. Being rated 10-15 will be a big accomplishment this year.

I agree. At first glance, it looks pretty good. But when I see the possiblility of at least five SEC schools in front... Well, its like a kick in the balls.

I think rex was attacking his credibility and not motivation . . .

It was intended toward the "circumstantial" fact that he only had 17 posts.

The fact that he only had 17 posts, which is what some focused on to discredit his
opinion, does not (in and of itself) make his point / argument / opinion / prognostication any less valid than someone with any larger or smaller number of posts.

Great Basketball game! I'm sure that was a great atmosphere for the recruits. Way to go Basketball Vols!!!

Man, I'm stoked after that b-ball game - so reading Vol msg board to get find out about recruits & stumbled on this thread, which was just same-o/same-o pissing contest (pun intended) stuff and then came upon DCVol's post, which is one of the best posts I've read this whole football/football recruiting season! DC, you really summed up a lot of what I've felt. I have liked Fulmer, but wanted a change. I didn't have a solid preference for a new coach, but so far so good. Oh, and then reading Sudden Impact's mention of having one of the original's of that picture - all pretty cool stuff. You never know what you're gonna find on this msg. board!

Like a box of chocolates, no?

I disagree completely with you for once. Patton was a man that said when in doubt, attack, not punt on 3rd down.....lol.

I think it would be more like the spread office where you can attack from any position.
