Well... Tbh at the time Bob Shoop was the big fish sexy hire. Butch got him and paid him well. That turned out to be a really bad hire. Alot of times if not most, the big name sexy hires are the worst... Just look at the dumpster fire in Oakland.

If Pruitt was going to hire Friend he would have done t already. If he hired friend now then he would be setting him up to fail.

Honestly anyone besides Freeze will be a disappointment now unfortunately. The media gets us worked up. If I am Pruitt I would call the media out if he didn’t actually meet with Freeze.

That's what got me to thinking......no mention of an interview with Freeze but a lot can be accomplished via phone and keeps the media out of the picture. The media has reported an interview with Lindsey however and I'm sure he'd love to put AU in the rearview mirror. I think it's down to those two. Your guess is as good as mine.
Friend as OC would not go over well in Knoxville IMO.

I sincerely hope I’m wrong (and I’ll gladly find a nice photo of crow casserole and post if so) but I just see another dud hire coming.

And for those who are wondering why the UTAD would allow this speculation to continue if there wasn’t something to it: the UTAD has a history of NOT being media savvy. I don’t think they understand the incremental damage to the brand with this approach, or they just don’t care.

It just gets old.

Hopeful fans and a media seeking attention is the cause of the hype. What's the AD suppose to do ...... give us play by play coverage? Or would you rather have an hour by hour update from their office. This is just a normal hire anywhere else. They'll make a hire and an announcement and business as usual. Hit the recruiting trail and get some players in here.

That's basically what it would be only the job titles would be the difference. I do wonder if Pruitt would feel upstaged but I don't think he would. As a matter of fact he may appreciate the additional help. The objective would be to win the division and then the conference. Freeze would bring in a huge recruiting advantage on offense where it's definitely needed. Fulmer would like nothing better than to beat Bama on the draw and the money will be right for Freeze. UT needs this hire and I see Freeze being here at least 2 yrs. if not 3.
