Great write up.DT and Mcrae both played awesome tonight. I agree Hubbs looked good at times he's gonna keep getting better. Can't wait for The B4A

I mentioned Darius will be the best pg since Watson. Some scoffed. I'm standing behind that prediction.

He played very well tonight which has been pointed out already. The more minutes he gets this year the better.

Yea my minutes breakdown has us playing 22 minutes of 2 posts, and 18 minutes on 4 guard.

So we still are going with it as our primary set, and I would bet in a close game Maymon and Stokes are out there.

With excellent guard production both maymon and stokes will thrive in the same line up imo. I guess I'm just using a wait and see approach because using both in the same line up makes a big difference offensively as well as on defense.

TN State sucks. An average pg would look good. But Darius reminds me a lot of CJ. He seems to already have a better handle than CJ. But, CJ had to put up with 3 years of BuzzBall, so he could've been better.

Good stuff.

I think McRae is a top 10 player in the country right now, and for what he means to this team, I don't think there's anyone in the NCAA I would trade for him. He's definitely the best UT player since Chism/Lofton.

I know what you're saying and love McRae, but if Duke offered us Jabari Parker straight up for McRae ... I don't know how you'd turn that one down.

McRae is really good, though. If he can keep from bouts of "disappearance" this year, I don't see any reason he shouldn't be a mid-first round pick. For the NBA, I'd say his biggest knock is that he's just so damn skinny.

His slight build will be made up for by his 7 foot wingspan. He's loooong for a 2 guard.

Sorry it took two post to realize the comparison you're making but he does play a lot like CJ.

IMO it depends on opponent and how Maymon progresses, but to each their own :hi:
Yeah. It's not like TSU and The Citadel were playing two 260 pound 6'9" guys in the paint. Their teams are made for a 4 guard lineup to still be able to rebound well.

The offense thrived tonight when Thompson and Barton were both in the line up. if we continue to see the same success, I'd like to see the starting 5 be:

Thompson
Barton
McRae
Maymon
Stokes

We'll know for sure after we play a couple more solid opponents.

I continue to be impressed by DT, extremely smooth with really good court vision. He hit Armani on a couple really nice cuts. Hubbs is gonna be a great one, his demeanor reminds a little of T-Mac an effortless scorer. They are going to be a fun backcourt next year. Armani does what Armani does, just plays hard the whole time. Davis has raw potential, but needs some weight. Josh just continues to play smart, hard nosed basketball.

I highlighted these guys for the people that think we are gonna fall off next year. Tonight you got to see the potential of the future, throw in the next class, and the future looks pretty damn bright to me.

I was a fan of the 4 guard lineup before the season, and I am even more so now. I love Maymon, my favorite player, but I'd like to see his minutes reduced a little. I know that depends on match ups, but sometimes you have to dictate the match up. If a team has 2 true bigs you can still go 4 guards, press and trap and drop to a zone. Then run the bigs off the floor on offense, good luck to the big chasing Josh around. Plus he pulls the second big out and it opens it up for Stokes down low. The way we are shooting, the other team switching to a zone would be death right now. Barton/DT/Josh/Jordy and Stokes or Maymon is a great lineup to do this with. IMO

+1 Jerry. Believe it or not the talent will be there. It's all about putting it all together.

Hubbs
Thompson
JRich
Armani
Davis (hopefully)
Will all be seasoned players next year. They are all clocking crucial minutes. They'll be able to help guide the next four freshman. Still hoping for a JUCO transfer for next year to help out. I def see 4 guard set being our main off sense next year. We won't really have a choice.

Didn't get to watch much of the game, but never saw Barton. Haven't seen him mentioned in these threads. What's the story? Hurt again?

Hard to bench josh but you may be right. That 2 point guard look is lethal, Barton can score, and Thompson does a great job running the O.

Not quite...he continues to impress, did you hear he's ranked 3rd nationally in true shooting %. The guy is incredibly efficient and has been a big upgrade for us.
