Detroit is loaded enough to challenge Hayward less Butler in the Horizon.

Why do you think the Ray kid signed with Detroit?? Is he good enough to make them a contender this early? Or have they had solid classes before this year. Just curious

McCallum is way too good to be playing in the Horizon. They also had some people transfer in from BCS leagues. They are about as talent laden as you'll ever see at that level. If they had a competent coach, I could see them in the Sweet 16.

His dad's the head coach.
Makes way more sense now

That's a pretty tall order. It will be interesting to see them this year. What do you think about Dayton? They have a pretty solid recruiting class coming in

Florida has absolutely no room to mention lucky game winning shots. Period.
never said we didn't get a miracle @NC State. that shot almost never goes in.

but Tennessee was a top ten team last year and still needed a very remarkable shot to not get swept by a team with only 8 players the entire year, had zero senior starters and all but 1 starter either a first year player or playing a new position. despite that they were in every single game and in most of their losses came down to the final seconds. had they been a marginally better perimeter shooting team it's not difficult to see how they would have won a lot more games last year. literally everyone is back except offensive blackholes Dan Werner and Ray Shipman, at minimum get back Kadji from season-ending injury and add a pretty darn good recruiting class.

i resent the characterization of our team as gutless. that was the worst perimeter shooting team ever under Donovan as Walker was learning to play PG on the job, Boynton was a freshmen and Werner and Shipman couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. If we were gutless chuckers we should have lost a lot more games and been blown out in our losses. But we were in pretty much every loss until the final seconds we still in there fighting. Nobody rolled over. Our guts is the only thing that kept our inexperience and depth from killing us in the toughest divisional play in SEC East history.

Dayton can't seem to get over the hump. The incoming point guard will certainly help.

I guess you missed the part where 2 walk-ons played more than 15 minutes a game for us. We didn't have top 10 talent. Also, I think the part you mentioned in the latter of this post about jacking all those 3's is what Hat is talking about with the "gutless" part

. Tennessee did need a pretty remarkable Scottie Hopson turnaround jumper to avoid getting swept by the gutless chuckers this past season

I saw it more as your player missed a lay-up to win the game.

It's not really hard. Same as it is on most of Donovan's rosters. Presume everyone is a finesse playing coward, then wait for someone to show you they are the exception. Take Donnell Harvey, Al Horford, Jackwad Noah, and possibly then overweight U Haslam out of the equation and the presumption of vaginitis has always won out.

Macklin is the only guy among that group who might not occasionally strain a vaginal wall and he was too soft to survive in the Big East. Any other questions?

Hat, have you heard anything on a player from Mississippi named Jeverick Nelson? I've heard he would be a solid CUSA or Sun Belt player, but ended up signing with last year's OVC bottomfeeder(and my alma mater) UT-Martin

you guys did have walk ons play none of them averaged 15 minutes per game last year. we would have loved to have walk-ons who were good enough to play to bolster our depth and earn scholarships.

the Vols and Florida were right next to each other in attempts per game and 3PT%. the difference between the two teams is yours had three senior multi-year starters who had the experience to pull out close games. the only senior starter Florida's had since Lee Humphrey was only made so because Jai Lucas transferred the day before the 08-09 season started. This season we've got three senior, multi-year starters.

I would be pretty confident in saying that the walk ons averaged 15 min a game after the famed incident. Don't let the season stats tell you otherwise

I know a fair amount about Dundrecus Nelson who's going to Ole Miss. I don't remember seeing or discussing Jeverick Nelson.

No, but it is abundantly clear that you are the type of blind rooting homer I love to ridicule around here. Good to have yet another person to make fun of here.

from the Kansas game on McBee averaged 10 mpg, Pearl averaged 13 mpg and Bone averaged 5 mpg.

Did you ever play basketball? If so, you should know that if you're coming in the game for 5 minutes on average that you're pretty much in the rotation.
