Remember, the Vols have not played in a BCS bowl since '99 and probably are one loss away from fulfilling the Music City Bowl's wildest dreams. UT fans used to look down their noses at the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Now a trip to Atlanta never looked so good.

I for one could care less what bowl we play in. And until we have a playoff system I don't acknowledge any D1 football championships. What a bowl game means to me as a fan is an opportunity to see the Vols play one more time and get six more weeks of practice. So whatever we play in, the Breakfast Burrito Bowl or the Chips and Dip Bowl, I dont care as long as we go to A bowl.

So are you plagarizing Climer or is he getting his new material from you? (See Tennessean Sport's page)

:lolabove: I knew I had read this somewhere earlier.

Today's dose of irony . . . plagarism in a thread entitled "The truth hurts".

Better than the stay at home Bowl we had last year.

Welcome to the new reality of Tennessee football. We're Georgia of the 90s.

On a slightly more exciting note I just received my 2006 TCA supplements! I could hardly wait to pull those old pocket parts and reload with some nice fresh new ones.

I don't put too much stock in which teams get picked for the BCS bowls. Kansas State was left out in 1998 when they were ranked 4th. They put in a new rule because of that. In the first 2 seasons of the BCS, Tennessee got in because they were ranked #1 and then #5. They were eligible in 2001 (#6) and 2003 (#8 BCS.... #6 in AP) but were passed over. Not only were they passed over in 2003 by the BCS bowls, they were also screwed by the Citrus, Outback, and Cotton Bowls which all took lower rated teams with records worse than UT's. No excuse for the poor performance in the Peach Bowl, but the Vols were better than they played.

wow. now that is an insightful post. almost a decoade w/out a championship of any kind...good, but not great teams. have been looking up in the division to at least one team for the better part of the last 6 years.

only difference is we have been to two title games since our last championship..UGA didn't sniff one during the 90's.

other than that...it's really not that far off.

So if Tennessee won you wouldnt acknowledge that?
That is correct. It is the only major NCAA sport that the national champion is not determined by a playoff. I love college football but have no love for the bowls. D2 can do it so should D1-the only difference is greed.

oh my, you caught me, it just never occured to me that someone on Volnation would read "The Tennessean", oh the shame of it all, .....give me a freakin' break....

the reality is that Climer speaks the truth, but you would rather take a shot at me than acknowledge the hard facts that Tennessee is a program in decline.

Just because some of us don't see eye to eye with you and your buddy Climer doesn't mean we can't read. Also, most of us realize that things aren't up to par, we just don't see the need to post a new thread(plagarized or not) every 15 minutes. Wanna buy a dead horse?

There doesn't have to be another loss for us to go to Nashville. If Arky and UF don't both go to BCS bowls, we will likely go to the MCB.

BCS-Winner Arky/UF
Capitol One-Loser Arky/UF
Cotton-LSU/AU
Outback-AU/LSU
Chik FilA-UGA
MC-UT

Then we have UK, USCe, and Bama that will be eligible, though one would likely miss out(prolly Bama).

I will take any bowl though.

I looked at that the other night, and thought the same thing. If UGA loses to Ga Tech though, and we win out, the Chicken Bowl would have a hard time trying to justify taking a 7-5 UGA over a 9-3 UT. If they beat Ga Tech though, or if we lose to Vandy or UK, then I think you're probably right.

I don't think the Chicken Bowl can take UGA over us if Tech beats them (and we win out) -- the way the rules are now, I think GA has to be within one loss of us for them to be picked over us. If we win out and UGA loses to Tech, we won't do any worse than the Chicken Bowl.

But if UGA beats Tech, then who knows -- especially if Auburn and LSU (or both) end up with three losses. We don't seem to have the popularity with bowl selection committees that we used to, unfortunately.
