My take on the game........

1. Richardson is the BKPOTG for his defense and blocked shots especially the last 2 blocks.
2. When you have a player like Stokes, you feed him first and use the 3ball as a last resort.
3. It will be interesting to see what kind of mindset UT has against Georgia on Tuesday.

1. The decision to go with Antonio Barton over Darius Thompson with 2:30 to go is inexcusable and Tennessee fans deserve a five page single spaced paper from Cuonzo Martin for that idiotic, moronic decision that cost Tennessee game.

Let's be honest, neither have the ability to lead...at least Barton has the ability to drive to the basket and create. Thompson isn't there yet, and Barton can create. Its funny that Trade Golden is avg. Nearly 14 points a game and Barton has barely avg. 7 points. If Cuonzo would of just stuck with Barton and let him gel with his team, then maybe Barton is a better contributor. That's neither here nor there, but let's be honest at this point Barton is the better player....

Unless they win out and win two games in the tourney this team is toast. There is absolutely nothing to suggest they can do that. Zo will have over a year's worth of compensation to soften the blow and make arrangements to find another position somewhere. Wished it would have worked out. Time to move on.

Golden at PG would have been worth 3 to 4 games in the win column assuming he didn't listen to a word CM said.

This is true. Our point guard play has been average. Golden was capable of going for 20+ Maybe a couple of more wins if he was still on the team?

True, but I swear that TG looked like he either had the flu or smoked a big blunt before several games last year. Next game he would look NBA ready and we would win. Who knows what we would have gotten this year?

-Tennessee allowed Missouri to shoot 56.5% from the field for the game. Have I mentioned that we are a terrible defensive team?

-Missouri shot 5 3-pointers. Tennessee shot 22 3-pointers. Officials called 44 total fouls. Guess which head coach put 2 & 2 together.

-We missed enough FTs to make a difference in the outcome.

This was a game of missed opportunities. We failed to capitalize on the foul trouble Mizzou found themselves in. We failed to utilize the 1-3-1 that was so effective against UF. We failed to take advantage of an opportunity to gain a top-50 road win.

Yup. That whole, score 70 something we win wasn't quite true. As I (and you) have said for awhile, this teams struggles are more defensively than offensively.

The struggles exist on both sides of the ball, but the belief that we are even decent defensively, is a myth.

We are better offensively than defensively, and I'm not sure it's really close. I get it's not pretty offensively, and that a large reason is offensive rebounds, but our defense is horrid.

and you've been wrong for 3 years.

We had one bucket in the last 6 minutes after the timeout. Defend that. 12 pts in the last 12 minutes, with their entire frontline in foul trouble.

Lol. Free throws count as points ya know.

We scored 70, I thought you said that means we win?

I doubt many teams win allowing their opponents to shoot almost 60% from the field, spin it how you want, but that's $hitty defense.

-lol as you wish. 2 bailouts for 5 pts by JRich doesn't mean the offense was good. I don't suppose that's on the stat sheet

-I didn't say anything about 70. We have averaged 81 in wins.

Defense wasn't good. Lack of offense is why we are going to the 3rd straight NIT.

So if our defense was at the level of say Virginia or Florida we wouldn't be any better in your opinion?

Does it really matter which is worse between our offense or defense? We have Martin as coach so it doesn't matter. I'll give him full credit. He's incompetent on both sides of the ball.

This is why I refuse to absolve the offense of any responsibility. Our defense (partucularly transition defense) is awful, but when your game plan (or execution) is centered around shooting 21 3-pointers with the other team's frontcourt in foul trouble is concerning. Stokes receiving one touch in the final 12 minutes is inexcusable.

always hypotheticals with you. If we didn't have CM, there is a great chance we'd be better.

This team has no idea wtf to do on offense except watch mcrae launch and try to go get the rebound. That's reality.

I agree, but that to me has still been more successful than what our defense has been. Not that, that is really saying much.

Like I said, I doubt you'd find many teams that have when that have allowed their opponent to shoot near 60%.

they both have sucked and one feeds off each other. Yes, our transition d was awful, particularly early tonight, yet we weren't even running. we were walking around on offense, throwing up bs, and they were beating us back down the court. Like we were sleep walking.
We came out again with no intensity or plan. One fg the last 6 minutes sucks. Especially when you called a timeout after hitting a big one.

Martin is utterly clueless. Like we needed any other facts to prove it, he goes and outdoes himself today.

This team and program has not gotten better. It has gotten worse with more talent and experience.

I hate watching this team play. It's boring as hell on offense and the coaching staff has them so unprepared on defense that it should be a crime. It's one gigantic cluster.
