The UT decline started when...

When the AD was removed from under the university president and placed under the UTK chancellor giving the academic side control over athletics.

When Donte Stallworth fumbled after a huge pass play that brought us back vs. LSU in the SECCG 2001. Then he said he was going to come back for his senior year. Then he didn't, and we ended up with "the Future", everyone's favorite team player. His antics divided the team, Fulmer subsequently lost the team, Witten couldn't stand the locker room, we started leading the league in criminal behavior, and it all progressively went to crap culminating in the hiring of one of the worst coaches in SEC history, "Precious". But we began our ascent the day Butch was hired. I can't wait for NSD 2014!!!

Flemming was a bigger cancer in the locker room than Washington.

Guys, the answer is obvious. It's when the seed was planted in David Cutcliffes heart to be a head coach. That man is determined to run a program and not be second fiddle to anybody. If Cutcliffe had been content just as Chief was, we are still playing for SEC championships to this day. How this response doesn't get a ton of likes is beyond me...lol

I think you are extremely close - it was when Cutcliff left and Fulmer and co. promoted from within instead of going outside the family and hiring someone proven, who was a co-ordinator equivalent to Cutcliff.

Was Fulmer proven when Johnny turned the O over to him? Its the way things were done. Not saying it was the right move but I understood why he did it.

Ladies, look away.

Men, follow me.

1. Take your left hand
2. Reach down and grab your balls
3. Repeat after me
4. "I'm a Man"
5. We are TN, no matter what happens, we are Proud. No more sniveling about losses.

Ladies, same thing, except reach down and grab your mid section.

We started downhill after the 98' national champs. Fulmer thoughts he could do a little coasting and still win. At that time there wasn't any rocket scientist coaches in the league and once the smart ones started coming in ----it was all over for Fulmer. But he did give us a lot of thrills until the smart coaches came in. I would have fired him after the 2005 season. we were suppose to win the NC and even Georgia that year beat us with a young rookie coach, at home and 104,000 fans in the stands. Plus Ga. Lost all their OL to the NFL the year before . Most embarrassing loss ever.
