Even though he isn't a true point guard, having Golden run the team makes a difference. He still has too many TOs (although last night was excellent) but he's the best we have.
While I also agree that Hall's absence wasn't missed last night, I'm not sure we can play the 4 guards against a bigger, more phyical and more experienced team.
But I love a win at the hell hole known as Memorial, particularly a double digit win.

Props to McRae as well! His first career double double and it is coming at a great time. Golden and Stokes are key but I think all three of these guys are key in our success from here on out.

This all day. The correlation between Golden's play and our success is very consistent. Seems like his best games were our biggest wins, and vice versa.

Which goes hand with turnovers. I don't have the numbers, but I'm guessing our record is pretty good when our tunrovers are <12.

Richardson just does everything well. He scores, passes, rebounds, and defends at a high level. I have so much confidence in any shot he takes from 15 feet and in. His midrange game is so refreshing in a sport that has become dominated by three's and dunks. He is just a very smart player who is a jack of all trades.

Anytime I see him take that shot, I immediately go into Prince mode (from Dave Chappelle) and go "Good".

He's automatic. I wish he shot more.

Moore played very well until the first 5 minutes of 2nd half. Had 2 very quick fouls and at least 2 more TOs and didn't see the court again.

On a side note he looks 20lbs heavier to me. Has he put on that much weight??

No, he's a big boy.

If he can just expand his shooting range to consistently hit 3 pointers, Richardson will have a complete all around game.

I think the problem is that he feels much more comfortable creating off the dribble vs a set shot. His shot even looks different in both cases. It may be a mental thing. Practice will take him as far as he'll let it. He has shown significant improvement from year one to year two in his offensive ability.

ZJC is right. He should shoot a little more.

I agree with that.

I do think he's improved his 3 point shot from when he was a freshman, but he still needs to get better at it. Just gotta work on it hard in the offseason. He doesn't have to be a great 3 point shooter, but like I said if he can start hitting them more consistently, it'll really benefit his game.

That's my biggest want from him. This summer improve that shot...if he can get to around a 35+% shooter he'll be very very good offensively. Just enough where if it's kicked to him by a big and he's open the defensive goes...oh $hit.

I'll admit, I'm excited about next yr. If we can keep this team together, and Maymon is healthy, we should be pretty good. Just got to cut down on the turnovers, and be more consistent.

The Good...

I've been as hard/harder on Kenny Hall as anyone else, and this is why. We are a better team when he's not playing, and I don't care what numbers suggest otherwise. Losing him will be addition by subtraction. Only thing we will miss is his height.

Maybe its the gym configuration, and he is more visible because of that, but I saw more coaching and intensity out of CCM in this game than I have in all the others combined this year. He really got after it last night.

It was nice to see the Golden of old last night, esp the first half. The second half hurt his shooting numbers a bit, but he did other things well to compensate, like rebound and push the ball. He made a couple bad decisions too, but they aren't nearly as glaring in a 12-point road win. His first half is exactly what he needs to be every game.

Stokes has really grown up over the course of the season, and no longer looks like the kid who NEEDS Maymon in there for him to be effective. He has learned how to fight through double-teams and kick the ball out of them as well. His effort level has shot way up in light of his newfound confidence to boot.

McRae had a big confidence boosting game. I like that he didn't allow a slow start to affect him either. This is the kind of game he typically checks out of mentally, and finishes 1-9 with 5 TOs after a slow start, but he kept his head up, kept fighting, and finished strong with a double-double.

The best offensive half, and most offensively-sound half I can remember. We followed it up with a snoozer in the second half, but we clamped down defensively, and stole one from a place that few teams are able to win. I don't care if Vandy is down a bit. A win on the road is a win on the road, and they are scarce.

The Bad... (short list)

Skylar can't defend anyone consistently. If he's not hitting from deep, he is an indisguiseable liability on both ends.

Second half was sloppy and we looked every bit the team that was ready to blow a big opportunity with TOs, bad decisions and selfish play offensively. Fortunately, we reined it it before it got out of hand.

With Maymon back next year and Yemi off the bench, Hall will only be missed if we get into foul trouble or injury prone again. McBee's limited offense can easily be replaced by Reese. His defense is no concern because it's pretty non-existent. Hubbs should more than make up for it and will be a bonus.

If we could find a PG or Golden plays like he did his sophomore season (or the last two games) then we'll be that much better. The almost 2 weeks off seem to have refreshed Golden.

James Franklin walked by my friends and I pregame with a pack of 2014 recruits. In good Vol fashion we chanted to the recruits "It's great to be a TN Vol" and "Come to the real TN school guys". We were all proudly sporting our bUTch Please shirts. I think it pissed Franklin offed by his gestures so my work here is done:)

Good Work, job well done. thanks!

with Nerlin Noel out, stokes should be able to out muscle kenturkey...He could still push Noel around, he would end up getting some extra shots blocked and some lame fouls...imo

Couldn't agree more.

I was actually thinking around 35% myself. I don't think that is an unrealitic goal for Josh to accomplish either. If he puts in the work this offseason he can get there.

Also BTO, improving that 3 point shot usually translates to being able to drive past defenders a lot easier.

Couldnt agree more about JR's improvments since he has got here. Not ever to mention his passion for the game is not only visible its contagious!@!@

Yeah I think he's rounding out nicely....especially when he plays with passion under control...a few times he's had crucial turnovers when he was a bit out of control but overall CCM is doing a good job developing his talents...proud of him....

And it's damn funny how the haters, Debbie Downers and Legions of the Miserable never seem to make their way here after a win. I wonder why? Can you say pathetic? Sure you can.

Grow a pair.

It has more to do with wins or losses creating an emotional response to bring in the people that don't normally post.......Any loss creates that emotional response but it takes a huge win to create the same.response.......Beating two of the worst SEC teams on the road is not enough to do that.

It was a good win tonight, however, and I'm happy it looks like.we are making progress. I don't have faith Martin will get it done here but I hope I am wrong.
