The Vatican set to embrace Evolution

Better question. If you are not Catholic who cares. As a Baptist I don't care what the Pope or the Vatican says or does. And it is possible to believe in both.

Evolution is not about ultimate origins. It is an explanation of how diverse groups of organisms can have so many common elements, both at the organism level and at the cellular and molecular levels.

More or less what I was trying to explain, though you summed it up more eloquently.

I believe this is true as well, although many argue otherwise.

because you have a typical uber looney conservative taking the stand that evolution might not be blasphemy, as his church and his predecessors have held for years.

I don't think this true at all. At best it says they are embracing evolution as the vehicle for the diversity we see in the flora and fauna today. As has been pointed out evolution has nothing to do with the origins of life, just the origin of species if I understand correctly.

That's what I meant, of course.

I get that. I just don't agree with alot of the ways Catholics and Catholicism works. I will leave it at that.

Biology is the first class you take to becoming a medical professional. And the first thing you learn is evolutionary theory. The fact that you can't understand that is your problem.

Both incorrect.

Well, crap. I read the thread title and thought The Old Guy In The Funny Hat was going to give Ric Flair, HHH, Batista, and Randy Orton a key to the city.

100% agree with that. You can still be a good Christian, and believe both.

I am still wondering why the OP thought this was ground breaking news? The vatican has been open to the theory of evolution for a while, now.

Tell me what part of evolutionary theory, either micro or macro that I don't get, then tell my why as an undergraduate engineering major with PE stamp, that you have taken a semantics exercise to conclude that I don't get gravitation vs. gravitational theory.

You have yet to support your silly point that evolution is the basis of medicine and dentistry. Make that happen and I'll concede.

In fact, I just got off the phone with one of my golf partners who happens to be an MD and he told me you're absolutely lost.

Bushwood? Sorry, couldn't resist. :)
