The Voice 2013

I didn't get to see it Tuesday. Surprised Amber went home before the Swon Brothers, but I'm sure they're getting a lot of Okie votes.

So Usher and Blake are the only two coaches left?

I think Michelle takes it.

The fans screwed this one up this year far more than any other I think.

Wouldn't be surprised if ratings actually drop for the finale.

Who were you guys pulling for?

Yep, it's just Blake and Usher left. I think Adam got screwed this year because he had 3 very good singers on his team and two of them went home in one night. I honestly think he would have had a chance at winning.

I would be pleasantly surprised if Michelle won and in fact I'd welcome it. Anything to keep Blake from winning again. I fear the Swon Brothers might actually win. I don't think it'll be Danielle but she honestly hasn't been a bottom vote even once.

I wasn't pulling for anyone in particular. I just don't like when singing shows (or any show like this) turns into a popularity contest. I feel like that's where they beat Sasha and Amber. I feel like those two girls along with either Danielle or Michelle should have been in the finale.

I hope Michelle wins. She's the most diverse singer and most talented imo.

How did you feel about Judith and Sarah?

Aaaand, Cat nails it. The Swon brothers needed to go in the first elimination (sorry, their combined voices remind me of Rascal Craps, and that's like nails on a chalkboard bad). However, everybody's all like "ERMAGHERD, DER FERM ERKLEHERMER". I completely agree with your Michelle assessment as well.

I think Judith was the best all around singer of this group (if we count the live shows. I thought the big guy with the beard that Usher sent home should've made it to the finals). I think Michelle is top 5 singers from this season, and that it's something along the lines of Judith, Sasha, Amber, Michelle, and whoever else you want from there. Whoever wins I doubt seeing them have a career as big as they hope from this, Javier and Jermaine are far and away better singers than anyone in this season I feel, and they didn't do anything top 40 wise. I think Judith will have a Daughtry like career though in that she'll have a few good songs and overshadow anyone from this season left.

Judith probably could have gone in the finale instead of Amber. She was really good. Sarah had a niche. Her voice wasn't suited for a couple songs she chose. Her audition song was perfect, but I felt she never did better. Disappointed for Adam when he lost them.

Like someone said, Ryan Innes was amazing as well. Heck, there's a couple more that really got screwed before the live rounds.

Yeah. The winner of the show isn't going to have a great career imo. Some of the people who got eliminated way earlier will have better careers. Singers like Ryan Innes and Judith Hill I could see being successful. Michelle has a chance. If she can get a good songwriter and is diverse then she will be successful. I hope the coaches help these singers after the show, it'd be a shame for some of them to fall through the cracks.

I realize it's only, what, Season 3? 4? But I haven't heard a whole lot from any of the previous winners or contestants in terms of radio play

4.

Javier the 1st season winner had a really disappointing album in 2012. Debuted at 130 something on US charts.

Jermaine has never had any top 100 songs. I don't know if he just can write good songs or is with a bad label. Super talented.

Cassadee has been most successful after the Voice i guess. A couple songs in the top 100, latest was a top 10 country song.

Cassadee had a bit of an unfair advantage IMO really, she was already in a fairly successful band, compared to everyone else on the show at least. And she's not country. she's that emo/pop rock thing that Avril Lavigne used to be before most of america finally grew out of that phase. The fact she has to lower to country (because of blake of course) is all you need to know about this show so far.

Exactly. Iirc, Jermaine was working with Alicia Keys and Javier was already releasing songs. So all of the winners have had experience.

Cassadee was the weakest, and it annoys me that she simply moved towards country and is more successful than the other winners.

Lower to country? Kind of like a second rate music thing?

Yes. Country is easier to write and produce for. The fan base is much smaller and a niche market as well. If you have someone promoting you in the business already (Like say a blake shelton and miranda lambert) then you're already set.

Take rap as an alternative, There are... hundreds of guys signed to Dre and Eminem's labels, but how many of them can you name? They only get air waves if they are truly good. Same with rock really. Country is pretty much the Good Ole Boy system of music.

Unfortunately this isn't true.

It's very difficult to get country radio behind any new female artist, regardless of who is in her corner. Mostly because program directors assume all their listeners are soccer moms and tween girls who want nothing but a bunch of fake "cowboys" in skinny jeans.

When was the last time a solo female (who is not in a band with guys like Lady Antebellum or The Band Perry) not named Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, or Taylor Swift had a #1 country hit?

My bad. I thought we were talking about music

Rap is more music than country, and its more an art form than most music these days.

Watch this video and learn just how wrong you are in both poetic and rhyme form in terms of music and art. (specifically the part about Lose Yourself). You may not like it, but it doesn't make it less relevant or impressive.

Like I said, a niche market where you need someone behind you (like Miranda lambert, Blake Shelton's wife) in order to get in.

Also, Reba. But, she's from the time before now really where some country was bearable and not really a tweener pop sound that taylor swift has.

I never said I didn't like it. I enjoy Eminem. But no, I don't consider it music. But I would agree it's an art form.

To each their own.

Danielle may or may not win, but she fits the country music mold perfectly. She'll do well.
