Are you the guy that stole Obama's teleprompter? Or do you just read the same lines out of the same book as the Democratic Party?

LOL..I'm not the guy

Whatever. I doubt it's in the Democratic playbook for me to be pro-choice AND anti-union. I doubt it's in the Democratic playbook for me to believe it's ok for gays to get married yet be a fiscal conservative. I doubt it's in the Democratic playbook for me to be pro-military yet support the removal of the ceiling on the SS tax. I love Christmas and think it's silly to remove the word from so many holiday slogans. I doubt that's in the Dem playbook either

I am a registered Democrat and not ashamed to admit it. My ideology could probably be described as a conservative liberal.

if you don't fit into one of the two partisan parties then you don't know what you believe or why you believe in it. Sjt told me that.

And LG's point is that the hardcore rightwingers never said a word about similar programs during the Bush years.

I agree it's totally knee-jerk and reactionary, which BTW, isn't too atypical for a hardcore conservative

Isn't it knee-jerk and reactionary to say this is typical for hardcore conservatives?

On the larger point, you'll notice I didn't blame Obama. I simply pointed out that GOVERNMENT is involved in something they shouldn't be. If someone started a thread about W doing this I'd be equally harsh. It is ludicrous that Feds are involved at this level regardless of administration or party.

SJT is one of those guys that will speak as if he is in the know on virtually every subject without really knowing what he is talking about. He's probably fooled lots of people, but not those more informed than him.

There it is in a nutshell. :)

Would anyone like to bet which party's administration has been in power more often when these government ag programs have been inacted?

I will give you a hint: it's not the Democrats

Presidents or Congresses? I'm not sure you're 100% on that.

Congress isn't ever referred to as an administration so obviously I am talking about Presidents. It's not even close either.

Of course, this is more of an indictment on the lobbying process than it is political party.

Just some facts for some of you that often label inappropriately

Sounds about right. Since LBJ, Republicans account for like 8 of the 12 presidential terms. The parties are nearly indistinguishable in their big government agendas.

I'm asking simply because I don't know, but how many of these subsidies were passed by executive order, and how many were passed by congress?

You people are such blithering idiots! Just repeat the Fox News echo chamber, with no fricking clue what you are talking about.

This is an INDUSTRY proposed and supported initiative, designed to self-fund ads to encourage people to buy their real tress, instead of artificial trees.

Christmas tree program gets green light - chicagotribune.com

The industry will even get to vote in 3 years whether to keep it. It was debated for a year or so.

My God, you just fall for every piece of crap bait that the morons put out, don't you?

The industry doesn't have to pay this tax, the customers do, so why wouldn't they support it? Also, aren't all federal taxes required to be originated in the House? Ya know, that pesky constitution thingy.

I guess Obama is now reconsidering this tax... even though according to LG he had nothing to do with it.

I'm asking because I don't know - are these industry groups that are supported by Federal taxes on products or are the just ag. industry groups that have banded together.

You could say that about just about any product these days.

Hey, if the industry thinks its a good idea, proposes it, votes on it, has the right to repeal it, then what is all the screeching about?

Because an industry shouldn't be able to set taxes?

Sounds like something anti-trusty to me.
