The Weightlifters Thread

I'm on a weight gaining diet, but what is a good weight gaining supplement?

Food, lots and lots of healthy food. Don't buy any weight gainers or anything like that, most have too much sugar and you will just get fat. Just mu opinion. I would buy some creatine though :)

Hey lifters, I've heard ab/core work can be done every day. As opposed to other muscle groups that require time to repair when you're strength training. I'm guessing its because core work doesn't involve as much resistance, so it's not that much different than using your legs to walk every day or whatever? Is that accurate?

Protein- Optimum Nutrition
Creatine- Green Mag
Vitamin- there are better ones but really any IMO
PWO- coffee, don't waste your money
All JMO imo tho

Is that all you would take? A pre-workout before starting to lift and then protein post-workout?

I guess you would just take a vitamin once a day whenever, but when would one take creatine? Before or after workout?

And I have tried the ON Protein before and was a big fan so I think I will definitely stick with that. I'll make sure to look into a vitamin and the Green Mag Creatine. And are you serious about coffee? I have never been a fan, but if you are serious about it I can take one for the team and do that.

Just a cup of black coffee before the workout and go?

if you don't like coffee, don't drink. I just think pre-workouts are usually a waste. Being as your probably around 21 and not putting in strenuous labor during the day, you shouldn't need it IMO.

Not looking for a six pack. More interested in what it does for my posture and how it makes me feel. But I have a workout that I love doing and it involves a lot of core work. And on the video, she says you can work your abs every day.

Okay thanks. The only thing being strenuously worked is my brain. I normally have plenty of energy to workout during the school year. The only time I feel like I need a PWO or a boost of energy is during the summer when I do work all day. So that makes sense.

If you were going to take a PWO though, which one would you recommend?

Jack3d is the most popular, and it does work. I quit taking it because the 1,3 dimeth made me crash really hard after a workout.

Nitraflex by GAT is really exploding right now. It doesn't contain creatine, which I like, but contains proven epo stimulants. Also contains Glycocarn which gives some really wicked pumps.

Plasmatic is another really good one. Also doesn't contain creatine. I like krealkalyn the best so its a nice PWO for me. Same basic goal as Nitraflex, epo stimulant.

A muscle is a muscle & needs recovery. I say abs twice a week max.

Also I will add doing sit ups will not make your belly go away that is by doing cardio. You can build muscle in a certain area but it's hard to pinpoint fat loss.

Not into sit ups. lol My ab work is a little different than that. I'm talking about core work, muscles your body uses for stability and strength. Not looking for a flat belly. For women, that's 80% genetics.

Once a week each muscle group. Obliques, abs, whatever. Twice max on abs/core.

Volly it's perfectly fine to work that midsection everyday. And it certainly improves posture. I can tell a difference in my posture even if I go just a week without working out. My aunt does a fitness class at a gym and works her midsection everyday, sometimes twice a day. Looks great too.
