The Weightlifters Thread

My arms look so good right now. They are busting out of my polo shirts and all I'm on is a scoop and a half of Jack3ed daily. And high protein intake of course. I thank God for my genetics because I've only been back lifting hard for a week and a half now.
 
When do you guys take breaks? I'm about through with week 9, and I'm wondering if I should take next week off. How long do you break? Do you do any low intensity work over your breaks, or do you just simply rest?
 
I'm on an unintentional break right now.... just being lazy. I haven't worked out in almost a week. I need to get back at it.

Everyone is different, I try to take a week off every 12 weeks. Some people just deload, still lift but decrease volume/weight. Killed quads last night. Pre-exhausted them. Heavy leg extensions, front squats, leg press w/feet low on platform, smith machine lungs. I am dead.

I just let my body tell me. It's usually about every 3 months and I take 4-5 days off. Some times a whole week.
 
What does "let my body tell me" mean, though? Do you start to notice that you aren't making gains anymore? Are you more fatigued?

Yeah, so it's usually when I feel like my recovery isn't good. Lifting weights usually makes me sleep better. If I'm showing a pattern of waking up tired when I shouldn't be, that might be a sign I need to take a break.
 
I've heard melatonin can give you crazy dreams.

Mine are crazy as it is, if I took that stuff I'd probably start sleepwalking and acting like I was on LSD
 
I always thought it would be cool to remember your dreams, so I made a concerted effort to do so. Now I regret it. I remember at least 1 dream per night.
