The Woke Olympics

Does anyone know why she went through the trials if she was struggling mentally or did she decide she wanted to focus on individual events?
I’ve thought about this a lot. Trying to be objective.

I initially thought she had a panic attack at some point. But the way she was walking with a purpose and still communicating to the people around her voids that theory.

My conclusion is that after she got lost in the air on her vault, she was so upset that she cost her team som points, she didn’t want to go back in, whether right or wrong you be the judge, but she no longer had the confidence or mental edge to continue to compete. And in a sport like gymnastics, that could lead to serious injury. Say what you will about her, but she is an ultimate competitor, no one can doubt that. Yeah she “quit” on her team but could it be bc she is so competitive, she just couldn’t go on knowing she couldn’t be “perfect.”

The following season showed why Crompton wasn’t playing haha. Ainge won the SEC East but his pick six in the title game was rough
If Kiffin would have had Crompton for two years instead of Cutcliffe, who knows how good that guy could have been. Ainge was a quitter the minute he threw that ball away under the goal posts in Baton Rouge 2005. Rick Clausen had to bail us out the rest of the game and rets of the season.

If somebody brings up Pippen, I think about that. I also think he was a great player overshadowed by the greatest player. Sitting out will be part of his legacy.
Dang skippy. I liked Scottie, but there will always be that asterisk in my mind.

I’ll always give Ainge credit for coming back from his disastrous sophomore year. After Cuttcliffe got a hold of him, he was a much better player and leader. That pick six is an unfortunate highlight for an otherwise pretty decent career. He’s the last UT QB to win the SEC East.

Ubben makes a point about doing what's best for your team here. I'm not in Biles head so I don't know her frame of mind, I don't know why she thinks she might be able to go for individual events, but if you're an athlete and not in the space where you can get the job done you have to let your team know.

I agree, that senior season was 31 TDs and 10 picks. I'm surprised at seeing him be called a liability.

She put team USA in a big hole with her bad vault, sat herself, and they came back and took silver. There are two ways to look at it. She quit because she was scared and weak or she recognized she was hurting the team and did a mature selfless thing.

I said this in another thread but Brett Favre used to play hurt and was celebrated as a warrior and I'm sitting there thinking he played like **** and they would have been better off playing his backup.

This tweet is totally asinine on a couple levels. It’s comments like this from Ubben only make this situation worse. People are twisting themselves into pretzels to rationalize this, and this has to be one of the worst takes I’ve seen

I've got to be up to drive in 4 hours, but I can't sleep. My wife and I had a pretty extended conversation about the Simone Biles controversy before bed tonight. Lots to chew on.

I know a good deal of you here think everything I say is full of ****, so I'll keep this short.

Simone was a foster child and spent her childhood shuffled around from house to house. Simone came through a gymnastics program with mental, physical, and sexual abuse. She worked through two systems where the deck was stacked against her and still came out on top. So many opportunities to walk away and she kept right on going.

She's seen what happens when you push the body beyond where it should go. She knows what happened when Kerri Strug "pushed through" for her team on a broken ankle: her career ended. Once praised, soon forgotten. Simone competed at Nationals with broken toes in both feet. She won at Worlds while fighting through a kidney stone. She knows her body better than any keyboard jockey.

If Simone doing what was best for her body and her future competitiveness has you calling her a quitter, especially knowing how much else she has pushed through, then the problem isn't with her. It's you.

Meh. So who is the mom that supposedly has been by her side through all of her “trials and tribulations”? Just curious. I guess it’s safe to assume she’s had broken bones, some physical issue, or something that made her abandon her teammates who have put in just as much work as she has for years. Honestly though who cares? These things are laid out so if you criticize any part of it you’ll be labeled something stupid. I hope all of the sjws are victims of their own demise.

Just had to slide a jab about social justice into a post that has nothing to do with it.

My point is that she knows herself better than any of us do, she knows her teammates better than any of us do, so maybe we should give her the benefit of the doubt.

Thabk you for the opportunity to stop and breathe this morning, to exercise patience. I pray a special blessing on your day.

The old bouquet toss….. I had forgotten all about that play…..

If she was losing track of where she was when she was in the air, I can understand that. Makes sense. Flipping and rolling through the air isn't a simple thing. You can really injure yourself if you're not dialed in. Especially with her routines.
