The WTF story of the Day

Measles parties? I've heard it all now
I have to admit that when my kids were little in the late 80’s, before the chicken pox vaccine, moms would send their kids to visit friends with chicken pox in hopes that they’d catch it. This was because it could be so much worse for teens and adults.

Sure wouldn’t do it now, even if chicken pox is a relatively mild disease. And measles can be fatal, plus cause deafness. SMH at people who buy into internet “science”, endangering themselves and the rest of us.

When I was a kid one kid at my school could not get chicken pox. Every time someone in the class got it, his mom sent him over in hopes he would get it. Don't think he ever did.

I lived next to my granny, who had 13 kids, an aunt and uncle and another aunt. There were about 10 of us that were the same age (roughly 40 now) and we had a party like that for chicken pox. Not a fun time.

It's weird how some people are immune to stuff. Poison ivy has doesn't phase me a bit. I can handle it all day and never break out.

There was a time when I was the same. As a teen, I sneaked into the woods one night to canoodle with a girl. Apparently, we had laid in a bed of poison ivy. She stayed out of school for over a week. I was unfazed.
