The "Z's last Postgame Report of the year"

My point is his time outs never make any sense. If he had a plan or play for the last shot, he should have called it with 10 or more seconds, basically, he panicked with 2 seconds left and took defeat from the jaws of victory. He was bailed out by Stokes and then stabbed in the back when Stokes missed his FT.

Panicked with 2 seconds left....well, yeah. Don't tell me you weren't panicking either. Like I said, you have the benefit of hindsight. If he hadn't called TO, and we didn't even get up an attempt, why do I have the sneaking suspicion that you'd have been leading the rants about NOT calling a TO?

I am have been offered to work for a local baseball team. This will take up my time for the rest of the Spring and so I cannot continue doing the reports. I love doing them but it's not doable and fair to do one or two the rest of the year. I will still be around and hang with you guys. Just can't do the reports. So I leave you with one more thought.

1. Coach Martin needs to be fired as soon as the season is over. I like the guy, but he not the man for the job here.

Mic drop.

Charlie Murphy agrees

by and large, dooley lost to teams that were nationally ranked and well respected throughout the country.

yes, i know there was kentucky. i know there may be others. but, for the most part, again, the losses came to well respected, nationally ranked programs with a lot of talent.

in addition, dooley did not have a much talent to work with. now, he was responsible for acquiring talent, but he didn't have it.

a football coach also needs his staff a lot more than a basketball coach and his staff failed him.....hello sal.

zo's scenario is different. zo is coaching in a dog **** league. zo, has talent. there may not be a better guard-forward duo in the league than mcrae and stokes.

so, dooley....lack of talent against a premier schedule.

and zo.......talent against the weakest power conference in the sport.

i have more sympathy for dooley. and that's saying something.

This is the part that really hurts. This season had the chance to be really special for the Vols. Barring a hell of a finish, it's just been a waste of real, quality talent.

Dooley's last team had more talent on offense than UF has has had on offense the last five years combined.

That type of offense was top 10 caliber. Dooley and Sal pissed that down the drain. I can not think of a worse coaching job than what transpired in 2012...

Agreed. The last time UT had an offense that good, they won an SEC Championship and played in the Orange Bowl.

Good luck and thank you for what you have contributed to this forum. Go Vols!

I totally agree. The Bray injury and the Sal hiring are the only things standing in the way of Dooley still being the HC at UT with plenty of folks still being reasonably optimistic about him.

The Sal Sunseri debacle is completely underrated, and that is saying a lot considering peoples thoughts and views on this board on that subject. It was that bad.

We had the best offense (statistically) in a league with the nations best defenses.

and only won 5 games.......

still hard to fathom

There were 11-13 seconds at the end of regulation when Tennessee crossed the time-line. Why not call the timeout there?? Why? Because Cuonzo has the coaching skills of a middle school volunteer basketball coach.

that game was wild one. if stokes makes one free throw, this game is a helluva come back but the typical falling apart in the last min killed us again. we still lost in overtime with two missed bunnies from j rich and that caruso kid having five fouls. r rich played really well but jordy didn't get the looks like he usually did.

he's worse than dooley.

or at least i can make a good argument.

Worse than Dooley in basketball would mean at least as bad as Wade Houston. Martin has been bad but not THAT bad. Butch Jones is going to have to turn over the majority of the Dooley roster just to have a chance to be competitive. The next UT basketball coach shouldn't have to go to that extreme.

There's a difference between defending his ability, thinking he's a great coach and saying he should be given to the end of the year and then be judged.

I have said since preseason that if h could get this team to the dance then he needed to go, that hasn't changed.

I've always seen the difference in your stance and I also have been a camp where I think Zo's style of basketball is well suited. Big 10 in particular. I think he has ability. But the one thing he never did was adjust coaching style to the players he had.

If he somehow still makes the NCAA, it will be interesting to see Harts stance. But hart has drawn the line in the sand. NCAA is an expectation.

Now, I still want to know, when can we hire Bruce back? :)

Perhaps this is where we differ. A team with the arena, budget, etc. of UT should consider the tourney a given, not a goal.

It was obvious earlier than this year, but we had to give him this year. He doesn't deserve another year. I don't give a damn if the team barely makes it in the NCAA tourney. He should've had this team positioned for seeding at this point. If they retain him past this year it'll just set this program further back. When a change is inevitable, there is no need in waiting. You do it now.

Dooley chose a staff he could control and was not going to give him any flack. That was obvious when 6 coaches left and he hired Sal over several other proven experienced coordinators.

He was arrogant and was going to do it his way.

Congrats on the new job. Are you going to work with LC or Greenback?
