There’s still time

I’m not as upset about the loss as the way we played. Tennessee was explosive and exciting last year on offense. I know we’re missing Hooker but I’m beginning to believe that Golesh was a bigger loss than what we thought.

Defensively I didn’t think it was possible to regress from last year but damn if we didn’t figure out how to do it. I think the thing there that truly makes me madder than F is that we’re not only bad but keep trotting out #5 on defense. Who sucks and honestly is a poor reflection of our program by the way he acts on the field.

Then we have the “suspensions” on playing time but not special teams for certain players. I mean damn coach were you even considering this was a rivalry game in a place we hadn’t won in twenty years? You send that Oline out looking like a flaming bag of crap?

Then the late timeout to be an ass as well. Just a bad look all the way around

Based on some Volnation responses …we are NEVER as good as posters say and NEVER as bad as posters say. If we’ve learned anything some fans will run to the edge with their hair on fire ready to jump after a loss like this (embarrassing). As we’ve stated before, those people take this stuff personal. For me…it’s hard to wade through all the tears, anger, and outright rage those same posters emit here to learn anything sensible. The season is not over. JM will still be the QB. And hopefully our OL will improve. Yeah we’re going to lose at least a couple more games. But surely most of us realized that before the season started. I personally think our best football is in front of us. Let’s start by getting ready for a pretty decent UTSA team this Saturday.

Volnation is hilarious. I was in Gainesville, I was pissed about the game, but I’m not sitting here pissing and moaning about how the season is over. A Hendon Hooker led team lost a game on the road to a South Carolina team probably on the same level as this Florida team we just lost to. I went into this game thinking our odds were 50/50 or hell even 40/60 in the swamp. I wasn’t confident to win there since we haven’t won there in the last 21 years now. Y’all gotta realize this team is different than last years, and it’s going to take time to get everything right. The season is still right in front of us, and if we make adjustments like good coaches make going forward then we can still have a good season! The next 3 games are home games that are winnable games! 5-1 going into Tuscaloosa isn’t so far fetched! I’m still with our guys. I think all these mistakes are fixable, and I think they will turn it around the next 3 games. I know it’s hard to trust coaches after all we’ve been through, but we gotta trust Heupel. He’s earned our trust IMO.
In Heupel We Trust!!

Heupel will be Pruitt/Jones 2.0 if he sticks with Milton long term and refuses to make a change. Vols will finish 7-5, they are not that good, we have 3 games to show that.
I think we have more issues than just Milton though. Oline and Defense is still weak even if we put Manning back there

Run the table from here on out, wins the East, puts you in Atlanta. Florida played 2 quarters of their best football but are not a factor. GA, TAMU, and Bama will be.

How this team responds against UTSA will be the tell-all. If we have another Austin-Peay-esque game, we are looking at a 7-5 or 6-6 season IMO. If the team shows up to play, then I have much more hope for an 8 win or better season.

Nobody watched last year when TN had the horrible defense and very suspect offensive line ? The play of the QB saved TN's bacon for all of those wins last year. Offense can overcome defense but it takes a QB that can do it. It's obviously not Milton.

Butch went into Bryant-Denny and almost beat a loaded Bama team in 2015. Tennessee has a history of playing well there and Josh gets it done this year. Bama has all kinds of issues as well. That win fixes this Florida mess

The offensive line was not suspect last year.

This thread is a breath of fresh air. It’s time to move one from this game, it sucked and I was just as negative as anyone else. But heupel up to this point has proven he can win in the SEC. We can still get it together

What are you talking about? We didn’t look good the first two games and everyone had a right to be concerned going into Florida as well as moving forward. There’s only so much sunshine you can pump before reality sets in.

Agreed. The loss sucks! Even though it may not pan out for us this season, I like your positive and hopeful attitude. More of VN needs to adopt it. The last thing I really want to do is go look for a new coach!

If we get CM back it will be short lived. Another injury will pop up with him. This has been ongoing. Hopefully not. Also to those who think that with him returning that solves the OL problems then I must be watching the wrong team. We need CM and about 2 to 3 others to help the situation.

What are you talking about? Where in that post did you see me say that nobody had a right to be concerned going into this game? I'm not saying everybody should be pumping sunshine. I simply said it was a breath of fresh air to see a positive take after this shitshow.

You are all ridiculous. We have every right to be very concerned, but nobody is getting fired or benched.

Where has anybody said you don’t have the right to be concerned? Am I missing something? If you’re not concerned after that game, then you weren’t watching. It’s called not panicking and letting the season run its course. Some of y’all have knee jerk reactions after a few games after we are having to replace a lot of talent from last season. We aren’t Bama yet, when we lose studs it’s not as simple as next man up.

I’m still concerned don’t get me wrong. I just don’t get the folks that say the season is over. If we go out and win against UTSA like we are capable that’s 3-1. Then we have a 7:30 kickoff against a team that ruined our season last year. I have a hard time seeing them beating us in Neyland at night when we are probably going to do a dark mode game too. That’s 4-1. Then bye week to figure some things out for Texas A&M. Who plays Auburn, Arkansas, and Alabama in consecutive weeks right before they come to Neyland. That’s a rough stretch for them and a bye at the perfect time for us. We do pretty good prepping during a bye week under Josh Heupel. I really see a good chance to be 5-1 going into the Alabama game. I’m not pumping sunshine or being unrealistic, because these next 3 games are very winnable at our riverfront fortress. If we fix the correctable mistakes we made in the Florida game, of which there were many, then we can win those 3 games. I trust Heup to figure things out. He has earned trust from our fanbase like I said. I have that South Carolina game circled though! That game will more than likely make or break our season. I choose to believe that Heupel figures things out though, and personally I think that’s a lot better than the doom and gloom of the season is over crowd.

Just like Cade. Talented, but can’t stay on the field.

I love the optimism of this thread. I try to stay optimistic but assuming we can beat UTSA since their QB is hurt we then have the cocks, Bama, A&M and Kentucky. Then a couple weeks after that we have Missouri who just upset #15 Kansas State and, of course the Dawgs. I have gone from thinking we had a shot at the playoffs to wondering if we make a bowl.

It’s even more important that he not stick with several coaches including one that is his best friend. That would be a very tough decision. Don’t hire friends.

9-4/10-3 with a bowl win is okay with me if milton finishes as qb #1
Milton is a much better quarterback than we’ve had in some recent seasons. There’s no need to be into this guy or to throw him under the bus. This loss is a team effort. The whole team needs to be benched.
