They Don’t Pay Their Fair Share

As an aging person, I'd like to see one party address the out of control costs of medicine. Whichever one has a plan that makes sense will get my vote. My guess is that they are all in cahoots with the drug lords and they DGAF about the cost of a pill or injection.

My now dead grandad had diabetes it was infuriating seeing how insulin could be had on the cheap if our evil government wouldn’t prohibit it being imported. The government works to keep the cost of health care higher than it has to be.

I know this is anecdotal and does nothing to help you, but whatever Maryland is doing is working. I paid for three months of prescriptions what I paid for a single month in Tennessee, Michigan, and Ohio. And that's with a Republican state government.

Maybe it's to make up for the fact that my salary is crap, but it is a huge help.

Maryland is a disaster. What you lose in one area is made up in another. You probably get a discount on prescription drugs but I bet your property taxes are way higher than in TN (MI and OH likely have high property taxes). And you all also have a state income tax.

I don’t disagree. I think trump’s truth in pricing was on the right track. Would be nice to see that with pharmacies and doctor’s offices also. If my memory is right what trump did was only for hospitals.

Also we should open up the ability for individuals to buy drugs direct and vastly limit the number of controlled substances. That barrier alone causes massive price increases

Which thanks to Trump, the wealthy in his state actually have to pay. Instead of transferring their high taxes to the federal government

We see just with Biden's actions with monoclonal treatment that govt creates artificial supply disruptions and shouldn't be involved in the drug distribution process in the first place. The govt creates supply problems, which affect price by doing exactly what Biden did by controlling the supply domestically or by put prohibitions of imports, which was mentioned earlier.

Can you explain how this person worked two weeks and got thousands back? Also, where did you get the 1/3 of the middle class receives more than they pay statistic?
Plenty of people so this. Don't work, or barely, and get thousands back each year. They have kids for money at tax time, and get tons of benefits. It happens in all races, and don't have a party line, it's just what they do.

That’s true. You can’t find the things now. I forget if it was Parkwest or Turkey Creek I called yesterday but their voicemail said due to limited supply they’re only doing them for in patients. These weren’t that hard to find before the government took over the supply.

You’d think given lower numbers of hospitalizations, that by now they would’ve been able to create a surplus. Somehow more time has passed and we have less

The 1% earns 20% of all income but pays 40% of the taxes in this country.

Where does this myth that the wealthy don’t pay taxes come from? Especially given that we have the most progressive taxes in the world. Can anyone back it up with data?

Top 1% of U.S. Earners Now Hold More Wealth Than All of the Middle Class
Top 1% of U.S. Earners Now Hold More Wealth Than All of the Middle Class
..........but only pay 40% of taxes

Inequality and Tax Rates: A Global Comparison

Several advanced economies have top income tax rates well above the current U.S. rate. Sweden, often cited as the most progressive tax regime in the OECD, maintains a top statutory income tax rate of 57.1 percent. The rate kicks in for citizens earning more than one and half times the average income, which comes out to about $70,000 in Sweden, a much lower threshold than current U.S. proposals. Other advanced economies have slightly lower top rates that still stand above the American average: Japan (55.9 percent), France (54.5 percent), and Canada (53.5 percent), for example.

You and the rest of the loony left equate wealth with income. That is your justification for thievery. You advocate thievery.

Now I want everyone in here to read what @luthervol is advocating. If you make $80k a year, he's wanting you to give $45k to the Federal govt... let that sink in.

$80k a year isn't living high on the hog.

Wealth and income are not the same. I made another thread on that but we can address it here too. If you own a business and you profit 60k a year (enough to life off but you’re not rich), you’re a millionaire. Because that business could reasonably be valued at over a million dollars (<20x earnings).

Should that business owner be taxed 10% of their wealth? 20%? 40%? Or can we agree wealth and income are different things?

I didn't equate the two, I was simply providing a fact. The top 1% holds more wealth than the entire middle class (and the gap is widening).
