Things Are About To Get Even Tougher For UT Recruiting In Memphis.

Adidas has Notre Dame (football) Michigan (football) UCLA (basketball) Nebraska (football).

I like Nike better but Adidas does have some of the most storied programs on their roster.

Good point, I still think that overall, Nike is making more money in suiting up college teams than Adidas is, I could be wrong though, havent seen any numbers. pure assumption

This, Adidas has been losing this battle for a long time and we are one of the only BIG time markets they have left.

Everybody and their brother owns something UT Orange Adidas brand, if they live anywhere near Knoxville.

That's a hard thing to give up. And Nike has it's hands in so much that it would take putting a lot of money and attention into Tennessee to sway it away from Adidas...

I like Adidas, personally, Nike goes to far with it's crazy designs sometimes.

I can't imagine Orange jerseys with winged shoulder pads, but flat orange or black helmets would be sweet

Not I.

No wait. I've got a Rod Wilks jersey, but that's it as far as adidas goes in my house. I'm about as loyal of a Nike customer as you'll find.

I haven't bought anything NIKE since I designed my own shoes on their website a few years back... sweet shoes, but expensive

If the Sonny Vaccaro deal with Li Ning goes through, as everyone appears to assume it will, one of his first orders of business will be to shut Pearl and Co. out of the Bluff City.

Me thinks you doth relish our basketball teams misfortune a little too much.

Why??? i don't care if we bring back the ROO's with the zipper pocket on the side as long as we win. I guess im showing my age and my ignorance.

I'm not sure if we would even do any crazy stuff like that. I would guess that everything would look this same, just a little swoosh instead of the bars.

On the other hand, some creative mind may have some awesome idea for UT that employs these modern designs....ya never know....

As long as its not LaCoste I don't care who fabricates our UNI's, but if we ever... EVER have a gator on our jerseys... color me blew... as in blew my brains out like Hat wishes several of you would do...

Don't kid yourself, if Pastner doesn't start winning, there won't be near as many "I've grown up dreaming of being a tiger" statements coming from the Memphis players regardless of what KE and Sonny V does. If U of M doesn't pick up their game the players will be leaving town.

Won 20 in his first season using a patchwork roster of 1 star, 2 other D-1 players, and a bunch of "projects." Now has #2 recruiting class coming in this year and Adonis Thomas next year.

You forgot to mention that was winning in CUSA. A good high school team could win in that conference.

Winning in any conference under the circumstances Pastner was in is impressive. In mid April, 2009, Pastner had exactly 5 scholarship players on his team, one of which was a starter from the previous year. He filled out the roster with a transfer, some throw aways, and walk ons. That team played #1 KU to a bucket, was competitive with UT for 3/4 of the game, and exceeded all expectations given the circumstances. BTW, CUSA put 2 teams in the NCAAs in 2010.

CUSA football sucks worse than CUSA basketball. How did the Vols fare today with a middle of the pack CUSA team at home?

They won. When was the last time Memphis win anything?

Didn't you hear, they managed a nail scraping win over Sunbelt team who was on their 3rd string QB and missing several other key players.

That and a close call with the national power known as UT..EP has them laughing at our program and already proclaiming a November beat down in the toilet called the Liberty Bowl.

Don't remember seeing anything about a November beat down. Over the years, Tiger fans are realistic and see football as simply a diversion until basketball season. Vols have been in the same boat for the last decade. Vol fans just fail to be realists about the decline of their football program.

Does anybody know if there are any new walk-ons for the upcoming season?

I have heard one of the assistant coach's son from Vanderbilt is a freshman and is interested in walking on.

wouldnt that be a nice little advantage in scouting the rivals to to the west :)

Which is quizzical, considering that Memphians are well-known to have their fingers on the pulse of UT sports.

And by their own unsolicited admission, they are a fantastically knowledgeable sports town, in general, as evidenced in their having their own NFL franchise.

Memphis' existence only makes sense when you think that God intended it to be sewer drainage for the rest of North America. And, it works perfectly.

Didn't realize having an NFL team was a pre-requisite for being a knowledgeable sports town.
