I've been busy. Had a lot going on and to be honest, this place hasn't been a ray of sunshine this year. I've got enough negativity right now without adding to it.

So I've just kept my head down and been grinding through it. Things are easier to deal with sometimes if you just stay busy.

Finished up 4 smaller buildings/barns and started this one about 2 weeks ago. About halfway done with it. Then I have a general store built around 1900 and 2 small barns. Then I'm probably heading north for awhile. Maybe Ohio, maybe Illinois, maybe Kentucky. Haven't decided yet.

I'll try to check in more often.

Yeah when you remodel you find all the shortcuts taken by some builders. We've been remodeling this year and I keep finding stuff that is totally ridiculous. What were they thinking?
I have seen contractors go out of their way to screw things up.

worked on a building that was about 300' long, steel. there was a typical connection that had to do about 6 times per 10'. so a bunch of times. in this one spot they decided not to do the typical thing, and ended up adding three more pieces of steel to the connection. It became the architects problem when the finish system wouldn't fit on the connection. we also rejected their water proofing efforts on that area too.

From beginning to end. Officially completely taken down today. Only thing left in place is the sill beams the barn sat on. I've think I have 17 working days total in this. Lost some due to weather and the holidays.

Now I have to denail and sort by length, dimensions, and species. Then start making deliveries to my buyers. I'll have another 2 weeks maybe in finishing up.

I know this looks like a huge mess, but there is actually a method to my madness. There will be 2 main burn piles on this barn. They are already quite large. All the other random wood that you see is where it was removed and left in place. It will be pulled from where it lays and denailed and sorted. Trust me, you want to handle this stuff as few times as possible. That's why I leave it in place and only handle it once before loading it on my trailer.

Also are a few pics of wood that had already been processed and sorted, ready to be loaded and delivered. There is probably enough ready for a full 25 foot trailer now.

Plus the 300 odd sheets of tin that is sold also.

This was a good sized Tennessee barn.

I may have picked up 3 more in Ohio. I'll know in a few weeks for sure.

Hey, @buckfama. Glad to see your posts and learn a bit of what you've been doing. My missus has changed her mind mid-remodel of our den for the fourth and final (I pray) time. As it turns out, she's abandoned the idea of a barn style sliding door and had me rip out the old built-in cabinetry she once wanted to redo with sliding panels. No longer does she envision reclaimed wood as part of our remodel (sigh). Maybe, she'll entertain my ideas about a new fireplace mantle...

The most expensive thing in construction is “Change order” and “while we’re at it”

And what our two awesome carpenters would say when they were remodeling our house 30+ years ago that had been "remuddled" previously: "Wouldja come look at this? I hain't never seen nothin' like this afore!" (they were true sons of Appalachia)

No biggie. I've got my hands full. But if she changes her mind, I've made some new contacts that can build anything you want.

I now have access to warehouse space so I can store my wood and start shipping full tractor trailer loads.

And @Orangeslice13 , I'll be offering finished wall board soon. It will be kiln dried, planed down to 1/2 inch and have a lap joint.

I can have it ripped into any width you want. Just something else you can offer your customers. And I can beat even most online prices.
