Things built, torn down and other projects.(Pictures)

For realz..
DISCLAIMER: I had zero input on paint color. My 7 and 8 year olds picked it out. Would be awesome if anyone was a Dolphins fan..... but hey.

Getting close. I have to put on the last section on the roof then shingle it. Then it will be the railing, windows, a few small side pieces, whatever else I haven't done, etc.

Yes, my garage is Tim Allen approved. It has a drain.
Would your kids mind if I came and hung out in their treehouse two Saturdays from now? Not sure what time, but for about 3 1/2 hours.

Since I won't have much time over the next two weeks to work on it, come on over. If you can use a saw or a hammer that is. Or keep me from sliding off the roof. My wi-fi doesn't give much signal out there.

Have you guys ever had to replace the fence on a miter saw?

I was being stupid/lazy yesterday and misused my Kobalt 10” miter saw and it resulted in a busted (unusable/broken in half) fence. I’ll post a picture later. I’m probably lucky I end led up with my fingers all attached.

I could probably build a new fence out of wood but I’m worried about swelling causing it to become imprecise, as my tools live in the garage and our dryer vents into the garage. It gets pretty humid in there.

Most of the fences are adjustable and could be removable. Best to buy a replacement if possible
It is removable. I took it off yesterday. Called the manufacturer today with the serial number and part number and they are shipping me the part.

Their cash register broke while I was on the phone with them so they are shipping it to me for free rather than make me wait on hold. I was really impressed although this inevitably means that something else is broken that I haven’t located yet.

Dont know the circumstances behind the damage. The arbor could be bent. That means a new saw tho imo

I was being ****ing stupid. Honestly too embarrassed to even want to tell the tale but I suppose being embarrassed will do me some good in the future.

Wife listens to all these gardening podcasts and she wanted a “bug hotel,” which is basically just a bird house for bugs. She’s trying to get more good bugs in her garden to eat the bad bugs and pollinate the veggies.

Spent a couple of hours with her building said hotel. Got it more or less finished and it was time to fill it with stuff for the bugs to live in. I was worn out and just needed to rip a small piece of 2x4 edgewise. Rather than take literally 30 seconds to raise the blade on the table saw (because why would you use the appropriate tool that’s equipped with a riving knife and for which you own push blocks?) I decided to do this on the miter saw. There was no way to safely hold the workpiece, so I just set it on there like a dope and fired up the blade... Basically what occurred was a kickback situation where the blade bound up and the workpiece shot into the fence, apparently with no small amount of force as it broke the fence in the middle behind the worksurface. Snapped it clean in two. It’s a die cast metal part.

I didn’t have any need to use the saw again afterwards. I did check and the blade is still perpendicular to the work surface and I ran it briefly and there was no noticeable wobble. Hopefully the mechanical parts are alright.

Yes.
It happens.
They sell replacements parts because we are all lazy and stupid. Dewalt is fairly simple to fix. I’d assume Kobalt would be similar
