Mine has a decision. She can go to Mercer and pay a little, or UNG, and not pay a thing. Same degree for NP, and at Mercer she'd basically just be paying for a dorm. She kinda wants UNG more, because she'd be here, and her best friend is going there. I told her pray and think about it, it's her life. We go for another visit with Mercer Tuesday. He was between UT-Knoxville and UT-Chattanooga. The scholarships and the campus size were the difference makers.
He is planning on being a Finance major but that is very tentative.

A lot to be said for going to a new place, new friends. (Not other side of the country new, lol)We had same dilemma. Go to UTK and pay some or get paid to go to UTC. Christian Brothers University in Memphis offered a generous scholarship as well but I wanted him out of Memphis.

Starting a new life is great and tough, all at the same time. There’s a wrench when you’re moving on.
Selectively borrowing from the former Vice President is a matter of choice. There is no right or wrong about it. Your reach around may have found its mark with Behr, but it’s a poor effort on your account. We expect better from you, Gordon.don't tell Rusty that he left off "of negativism" after "nabobs," whatever you do
we do not need to draw attention to the times he is wrong
Middle Brat is considering North Georgia as well as Mercer?I think a lot with my daughter isn't just her friends, but she's not wanting to leave Tiffany. I mean, yeah her friends going there/being here factors in, but she knows how quickly things can go bad. She's said if she's here, then she could be there if something happens. One good thing if she goes to UNG, if there's bad weather she can stay with the in-laws, they literally live right across from the school (5minutes). Tiffany has told her not to decide because of her, but I know she thinks about it. I probably wouldn't fuss over completely free though . I just want her to do what's best for her. As much as I hate Georgia, UNG is a really good school for nursing/NP.
It’s a complicated decision. But I’d say to put the $5k to the side while you’re trying to evaluate. Yes, $5k is $5k, but other stuff may outweigh it. Just as wanting to be closer to Tiffany is almost impossible to weight.UNG is covered completely if she goes there. Mercer is covered a lot, but not completely, it'd be around 5k a year for Mercer
That name brand has been my concern, cause in my mind Mercer is a bigger school. My daughter informed me that UNG ranks #1 in the state for nursing and NP schools. I guess it's kind of a win if she picks there, best school, and everything will be covered. I'd say we'll know after Tuesday. It’s a complicated decision. One thing to compare the schools on: what are their internship (or equivalent) programs? A good internship program can put you way ahead of the rest of your classmates if it teaches you lots of the how-to-work-in-the-workplace subtleties, not just the important patient care stuff.
Another thing: she should try to get with an NP group and find out how much (if at all) the school name on your diploma matters. Some professions get All Excited about your alma mater, while others are “Did you pass your boards? If so, welcome aboard!” #connections
Other than that though, I’m certain that she will kill it, wherever she goes!
And NP is a master’s level program, correct? That name brand has been my concern, cause in my mind Mercer is a bigger school. I'll have to ask her about the internship stuff, idk as far as UNG. I do know if she goes to Mercer they said she'd transfer to the (I think Gwinnett) campus after two years, and intern in Atlanta. I'm just assuming here, but I'd say with UNG, she may intern at northeast Georgia medical center, it's actually one of the top hospitals in the state, and #1 in cardiac care. There, or they're building a Northside hospital in hall county, so I'd assume that may be an option. Again, I'm just assuming, I'd have to ask herAnd NP is a master’s level program, correct?
The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that the internship/ practice location opportunities are the big thing. And I’m sure that they are weighted into the program rankings.
I don’t see how she can go wrong!
