Things I'm happy about today

Some locales have elected to stay on standard time year round. Others have eschewed the national time zones and elected to use a different one. Murica.

My parents roof is bad, the shingles, and they don't have insurance anymore. They use wood heat, and their insurance company jacked the price up so much, and they couldn't afford it. One of my good friends I grew up with goes to church with them, so I got him after church last Sunday. He does gutters, so I figured he'd know someone who could be trusted in roofing. Tiffany actually brought it up, cause mom told her dad had climbed up to patch a bad spot. She suggested to use our taxes, and my bonus to help them. I just wanted someone who could be trusted, and knew he'd be able to help with that. He just texted for me to call him. There's a preacher, lives somewhere around lenoir city, who goes up there to preach often, and he actually does roofing. My buddy called him, and he's giving everything that might be needed, shingles, nails, the under stuff, and stuff if anything needs replaced. That's like half the cost! He's talking with a couple of guys about the labor, but talk about a blessing, God is good! My parents don't know, they'll kill me😆, but it'll be worth it.

“Wood heat” - do they have one of those pellet fed furnaces popular in Nordic countries? A contraption of your father’s devising? Just fireplaces?

Roof, bumpers, and all side trim are painted. Mostly turned out really good. I have one spot on the roof where my redneck scaffold slid back on me and I fell forward shooting a nice blob of paint before I could release the trigger. Meh, it should buff out if I ever decide to buff it. Tomorrow will be the hood, hatch, and all the doors. Maybe it will be back together by next weekend. I still have to schedule the windshield replacement...

have a 2007 Hyundai Tucson with 233K on it...been a good car...my wife and I bought it new...was the last one we bought...I drove it every day

gonna pass it on to my oldest granddaughter who just got her learner's permit

got a 2024 Santa Fe (new one) today....had 17 miles on it....has 42 now....drove it home....it's the "Limited" trim, has a lot of technology to figure out, some dis surveillance chit gotta be disabled haha, has tow hitch on it, and they tossed a trailer hitch into the deal....came with a 5-gallon touch-up paint kit (it's the matte gray finish)....they threw in WeatherTech mats....they wanted it off the lot to make room for newer models, and I'm glad...I think I got a great deal....it had right at 9k in rebates, so I think I dun good

it took a lot of the day to finalize everything at the dealership, and I just got home, so no pics yet
