That would irk meMaybe not mad, but definitely confused. Got a call today from a recruiter at a company I had applied to, about a job I had done before although not for that company. It is a company I worked for a couple years ago. Basically asking what my salary expectations were and when would I be able to start. I was not unreasonable with my salary (I had inside intel on what it pays and stated a number a tad below that) and am able to start immediately. But no official offer. 2 hours later I get an email letting me know they have decided not to fill the position. Huh? Then why did you call me?
BTW, they are contractually obligated to have someone in that role which has been vacant since August.
“Decided not to fill”? When they’re contractually obligated? Wow.Maybe not mad, but definitely confused. Oh no, I'm so sorry; that's awful! I guess I sorta understand what they're thinking when they do it, they don't see any hope or any chance for redemption, but the pain and grief that they leave behind that can never really be resolved...I'm mad/sad, found out an old friend killed himself today. We all hung out when we lived in Cleveland, still been friends, but just life gets you busy. It's a hard way to lose someone, it just sucks anytime I hear about anyone.
I doubt they are in financial trouble. They are a huge company and hold dozens of goverment contracts. My best guess is they either don't intend to bid when the contract comes up again or they don't think they will win it for a 3rd time so they are not gonna bother filling the role.“Decided not to fill”? When they’re contractually obligated? Wow.
I know you’re hacked about this, and I would be too, but this sounds like a company that’s in some financial trouble. Especially if it’s a compliance-type position, one where they don’t see that it brings value to the company. You might have dodged a bullet here.
I’d still be pizzed though!
