Things Stephen Pearl does that grinds your gears...

Only on this board could we be winning by 20+ points and people decide to post something ragging on our players. I seriously don't know why some of you bother "rooting" for Tennessee if it's such an unhappy existence for you.

They are not fans. Pearl is giving His all for Tenn. Good or bad.

In fact..just once this year. I'd like to see him get a steal or rebound, drive the length of the floor and actually get a shot off without being rejected like fat kids at a prom.
Well, it's happened twice this game so, wish granted.

I understand most of your beefs with Pearl, but Goins is far worse. He is actually on SCHOLARSHIP, and I have yet to see what he adds to the team other than minutes.

Lame thread from and obvious lame-lifed person. I wish the other players played as hard as SP. Maybe we would not have lost to USC, Vandy, and GA.

The fact that he exist. I cant' stand the kid.

For a walk on he didn't do bad tonight. He scored some points, had an outstanding pass to Chism for an assist and played good defense. Pearl is not a great or maybe even a good player, but he plays hard and does what he is asked to do.

It's gotten better over time, but my big beef with Pearl is his hair. Nose too, but mainly hair.

Also Re: Steven Pearl

For the kids that didn't know UT Basketball existed until 2-3 years ago... Under Buzz Peterson, Dane Bradshaw was a gawd-awful basketball player. Under Bruce Pearl he became a fan favorite because of his dedication and scrappy play. I see Steven Pearl as a less talented guy, but he gives his all.

Here we go bashing another player. Goins has played very well the last 3 games. His defense against one of the premier players in the conference was excellent tonight.

Yeah, his shot selection is fantastic. :eek:k:

There are two ends to the floor. He played well on D, but was miserable on the other end of the floor. I saw one good play from him... a nice pass to Chism in the lane.

If I am not mistaken, they have walk-on tryouts in the fall. Why don't some of you that think you can do better than SP go and try out. Maybe then we will be on here talking about how bad you stink as a player.

My friends and I have given Pearl the nickname "Extra Credit" because any points he scores are just a bonus.

He is a walk on and fill in for idiots who did stupid stuff. He is not a shooter, can't shoot free throws. BUT, he did have 5 steals the other night and plays good defense. We can put him in when someone is in foul trouble to burn some minutes and play defense. Once Williams gets back in gear, I don't think he will see the floor.

Made some pretty good dishes tonight. Hate the way he acts when he fouls, but other than that, I kinda like the kid.

Mostly his hair... I can't name a guy on another roster who fills the shoes SP does in the #9 slot. I'm kind of grateful. But everytime I see him I just squint at his head... it truly bothers me. (And yes I know how sad that is)

Some people, get off the kids back. Unlike some on this board he is giving his all for Tennessee. Great win tonight with S. Pearl helping on defense and great passes. Go Vols!!

Really your big beef is his hair and nose? WTF is wrong with you? He is a college kid giving his all for Tennesse, going to school and being a good citisen. You need to rethink where you are in life..Go Vols!

Does he? I mean really, does he? I know it "appears" that he argues every call, but ? ? ? Don't the Ref's always T you up for that? I've seen many players get T'eed up for arguing only one call. I'm serious on this. It does look like to me that he does, but, why no calls on it.....ever? Maybe he's just thanking them for the job they do. Who knows?
:dunno:

I don't really understand all the Pearl bashing. He is what he is.

I'm sure Steven realizes he's not the most talented guy on the floor. But he seems to play hard and he has taken advantage of his minutes as of late to make positive plays for the team. I'm not sure what else you could ask of a walk-on playing on a team with depth issues. Personally, I applaud the guy.

This is all I ask of ANYONE we put on the floor. Make positive plays and avoid negative ones. It is pretty easy to win games then.

Unfortunately I think a couple of guys haven't been doing that. (I will withhold names to avoid being called a "player basher" again)
