Things Stephen Pearl does that grinds your gears...

There really seems to be a lot of SP envy amongst some folks out there. Jealousy is a ugly monster, how do you look at yourself in the mirror? Or is it a case of closet man crush going on with the haters?

I don't really understand all the Pearl bashing. He is what he is.

I'm sure Steven realizes he's not the most talented guy on the floor. But he seems to play hard and he has taken advantage of his minutes as of late to make positive plays for the team. I'm not sure what else you could ask of a walk-on playing on a team with depth issues. Personally, I applaud the guy.

:hi:

no one took my post as a bash. I was trying to point out that if he is actually arguing, why no T's. I really like the kid. Well, all of 'em. The walk ons are doing it for their love of UT and the love of the game. I'm critical about some plays but then it's over and gone. Some like to hang on to the bad for some reason. I think this confidence boost tonight sets a better tone going into the Vandy and UK games.

The fact he can't make a single free throw is MUCH worse.

I laugh at his reaction every time he misses a FT. he just acts dumbfounded and shocked he missed it, like he thought it really had a chance. hes like 3-42 from the stripe this year. literally, hes shooting like 7 pct.

What I want to know is why we never see these type of threads about opposing players. You know, the ones we are supposed to hate? I can't imagine there's no one to despise post-Teddy DuPay in the SEC. Anyone watch Damarcus Cousins play?

I for one think that Pearl plays really hard and brings a certain toughness to this team that really helps in the stretch of games. Reminds me of a less talented Dane Bradshaw. I know i will get killed for this but just saying. the kid is also all vol!:D

Sometimes you guys amaze me. Pearl is playing his hardest, he isnt great but he does play decent defense sometimes. He should prob never shoot anything but and uncontested layup but he is doing everything he can. Like a previous poster said if it wasnt for the idiots who got arrested he would not be playing.

I never said he didn’t give his all. but, "his all" just so happens to be not good enough for this caliber of basketball. BUT he acts like he should be out there on the court instead of being thankful for being out there. IMO, he's no better than Crannington (sp?) but you don’t see him ham'n it up when he's out there?

Someone said earlier you have to earn the right to be obnoxious, and that's spot on with regard to SP. He thinks just because he's out there he has the right to argue with officials on everything. Just like he probably believe with all his heart that he deserves to play meaningful minutes even if his dad wasn’t the head coach. But the truth is, he wouldn't start for UTC in the real world. He's a cocky DB and he has done nothing to warrant it and THAT is why he grinds my gears. Be thankful for the opportunity you're given which you wouldn’t have received had your father not been the HC.

Also, I have no problem with someone arguing a call..... EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, when it's warranted. But the fact SP argues literally everything; it only further proves his douche baggery..... like he's tooooooooooooooooooo great of a player to make a mistake........ "you called a foul on mua? But i am the geeeerrrrate Stevanith Pearith, Son of Bruce.... This sort of call must be a mistake, I urge you with the utmost importance to reconsider your egregious decision made upon your behalf...."

Honestly the only thing that bothers me about him is his haircut. It's awful.

And no I am not gay.

We rarely lose a gamet that the kid plays in. You can't argue those type results.

In all seriousness, the kid gives his all when he plays. What more can you ask?

i think it's ridiculous for people to even get frustrated with him at this point. he is not a scorer of course, but he plays damn good defense out there against some good players.

I don't have a problem with SP. He does play good defense most of the time, and plays hard, but my only grip with him is EVERY TIME he gets a foul called on him I wish he would just accept it and not act like he doesn't know what the heck he did :dunno:...oh, and the hair too. :birgits_giggle:

Can't stand it when SP gets a steal, plays good D, or gets an assist to Chism. Hate it when that happens. I was Soooooo mad when he scored 5 vs SC. Sooooo mad!

I know it isn't just Pearl, but a good deal of it stems from his calling out those who post on message boards last year.
